Singanalluru Puttaswamaiah Muthuraj (24 April 1929 – 12 April 2006), better known by his stage name Dr. Rajkumar, was an Indian actor and singer who worked in Kannada cinema. Regarded as one of the greatest actors in the history of Cinema of India, Indian cinema and a versatile actor, he is considered a cultural icon and holds a matinée idol status in the Kannada people, Kannada diaspora, among whom he is popularly called as ''Nata Saarvabhouma'' (emperor of actors), ''Bangarada Manushya'' (man of gold), ''Vara Nata'' (gifted actor), ''Gaana Gandharva'' (God of singing), ''Rasikara Raja'' (king of connoisseurs), ''Kannada Kanteerava'' and ''Rajanna''/''Annavru'' (elder brother, Raj). Puneeth Rajkumar (17 March 1975 – 29 October 2021), colloquially known as Appu, was an Indian actor, playback singer, television presenter, and producer, who worked in Kannada cinema. He was the youngest son of actor and matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar, He was one of the most popular actors in Kannada cinema. He was the lead in 30 films; as a child, he appeared in many films. ''Bangaarada Manushya'' ( kn, ಬಂಗಾರದ ಮನುಷ್ಯ, ''Golden Man'') is a 1972 Indian Kannada language film based on T. K. Rama Rao's novel of same name. Ramarao was known for his crime and detective novels, but this film was a social drama. It was directed by S. Siddalingaiah under the banner Srinidhi Productions. Prior to this, Siddalingaiah had worked with Rajkumar in ''Mayor Muthanna''. It stars Rajkumar and Bharathi. The film was screened for over two years at the States Theatre (now Bhumika Theatre) in Bangalore and was screened for sixty weeks in Chamundeshwari theatre in Mysore, the film Completed one year in many centres and twenty five weeks in every major and minor centre. Matinée idol is a term used mainly to describe film or theatre movie star, stars who are adored to the point of Flattery, adulation by their Fan (person), fans. The term almost exclusively refers to adult male actors. Matinée idols often tend to play Romance film, romantic and Drama (film and television), dramatic Leading actor, leading or Supporting actor, secondary leading roles and are usually known for having good looks.
