Wurm Online
The Wurm (; nl, Worm ) is a river in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany. It rises in the Eifel mountains and flows for 57 kilometres before discharging into the Rur. Geography The Wurm is a left (western) tributary of the Rur ( nl, Roer). The Rur is a tributary of the Meuse. The sources of the Wurm are several brooks in the forests southwest of Aachen, which form the Wurm after the ''Diepenbenden'' reservoir. From there the Wurm nowadays flows through canals through the city of Aachen, until it resurfaces again at the ''Europaplatz'' in the east of Aachen. North of Aachen (between Kerkrade and Herzogenrath) the river forms the border with the Netherlands for approximately 10 km. It flows into the Rur near Heinsberg. Other towns on the river Wurm are Würselen, Übach-Palenberg and Geilenkirchen. Würselen (, Ripuarian: ) is a town in the borough of Aachen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Geography Würselen lies north of the city of Aachen in the immediate vicinity of the tripoint of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Its neighbouring settlements are, in clockwise order, the towns of Herzogenrath, Alsdorf and Eschweiler and the city of Aachen. Würselen is part of Aachen's Nordkreis quarter and is the only part of the city borough without external boundaries. Übach-Palenberg is a town in the Heinsberg district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was formed by the merger of two villages, Palenberg and Übach. Geography The town is located at the border with the Netherlands, at approx. 10 km east of Heerlen and 15 km north of Aachen. The river Wurm flows through the area.
