Whitefish Lake 6, Ontario
Whitefish Lake 6 is a reserve in Ontario, Canada. It is inhabited by the Ojibwa Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation. It is immediately south of the community of Naughton in Greater Sudbury, and is considered part of Greater Sudbury's Census Metropolitan Area. In the Canada 2011 Census, the community of Whitefish Lake had a population of 394 living on the reserve. It is bordered by both Greater Sudbury and the Unorganized North Sudbury District. In 2010, the community was selected as the host community for Building Homes and Building Skills, a project by television personality Mike Holmes Michael James Holmes (born August 3, 1963) is a Canadian builder/contractor, businessman, investor, television host, and philanthropist. Whitefish Lake (Merrill Creek)
Whitefish Lake is a lake in the Moira River and Lake Ontario drainage basins on the border between the Cashel portion of Tudor and Cashel, Hastings County and Addington Highlands, Lennox and Addington County in Ontario, Canada. The lake is about long and wide and lies at an elevation of about northeast of the community of Gunter and northwest of the community of Cloyne. Only the very western tip of the lake lies in Tudor and Cashel, Hastings County, with the rest in Addington Highlands, Lennox and Addington County. The primary inflow and outflow is Merrill Creek, flowing in at the north from Little Merrill Lake and out at the west. Merrill Creek flows via Partridge Creek, the Skootamatta River and the Moira River into the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario at Belleville. Whitefish Lake (Manitoba)
Whitefish Lake is a lake in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located on the western side of the province immediately east of the border with Saskatchewan in the Porcupine Hills of the Manitoba Escarpment. The lake is in Manitoba's Porcupine Provincial Forest, which is a boreal forest. Accessed is on the east side from Provincial Road 279. Several small creeks from the surrounding hills, muskeg, and smaller lakes feed into Whitefish Lake. Whitefish Creek is the outflow. It is located on the western side of the lake and flows west into Saskatchewan and then into Woody River. Woody River works itself south then back east into Manitoba and eventually empties into Swan Lake. The whole system is in the Nelson River watershed, which flows into the Hudson Bay. Espenberg Volcanic Field
Espenberg is a volcanic field in Alaska that contains the largest maars on Earth. It was active during the Pleistocene until 17,500 years before present, BP, when a large eruption formed the wide Devil Mountain Lakes, Devil Mountain Maar and deposited tephra over , burying vegetation and forming the largest maar on Earth. Other maars in the field are the North and South Killeak Maars and Whitefish Maar, and Devil Mountain (Alaska), Devil Mountain is a shield volcano. The large size of these maars has been attributed to the interaction between permafrost and ascending magma, which favoured intense explosive eruptions. Soils buried underneath the Devil Mountain Maar tephra have been used to reconstruct the regional climate during the Last Glacial Maximum, last glacial maximum.
