Tris Coffin
Tristram Chockley Coffin (August 13, 1909 – March 26, 1990) was a film and television actor from the latter 1930s through the 1970s, usually in westerns or other B-movie action- adventure productions. Early years Coffin's mother was actress Elizabeth Christie, and his uncle was writer Robert P. T. Coffin. Career In 1940, Coffin appeared as Phillips in '' Chasing Trouble'', a comedy espionage film. He is perhaps best known for his role as Jeff King in Republic Pictures' '' King of the Rocket Men'' (1949), the first of three serials starring the "Rocketman" character. ''Dangerous Money'', also known as ''Hot Money'', is a 1946 American film directed by Terry O. Morse, featuring Sidney Toler as Charlie Chan. This is the second and last appearance of Willie Best as Chattanooga Brown, the cousin of Charlie Chan's usual chauffeur, Birmingham Brown ( Mantan Moreland). Plot Aboard an ocean liner in the South Pacific, US Treasury agent Scott Pearson confidentially asks Charlie Chan for help; two attempts have been made on his life. Chan rescues him from a third, but not the fourth (a knife in the back). The captain asks Chan to complete the dead man's mission and find out who is responsible for the recent surfacing of counterfeit dollars and stolen art. William Tyler McVey (February 14, 1912 – July 4, 2003) was an American character actor of film and television. Early years McVey was born Bay City, Michigan, to William David McVey and his wife, the former Jessie Arvilla Tyler. His mother died of tuberculosis when he was one year old and his father allowed his maternal grandparents to raise him. Richard McCord Long (December 17, 1927 – December 21, 1974) was an American actor best known for his leading roles in three ABC television series, ''The Big Valley'', ''Nanny and the Professor'', and ''Bourbon Street Beat''. He was also a series regular on ABC's ''77 Sunset Strip'' during the 1961–1962 season. Career Early films: International Pictures In 1946, Long was cast in his first film, ''Tomorrow Is Forever'', as Drew, the son of the characters played by Claudette Colbert and Orson Welles. Andrew Duggan (December 28, 1923 – May 15, 1988) was an American character actor. His work includes 185 screen credits between 1949 and 1987 for roles in both film and television, as well a number more on stage. Background Duggan was born in Franklin in Johnson County in central Indiana. During World War II, he served in the United States Army 40th Special Services Company, led by actor Melvyn Douglas in the China Burma India Theater of World War II. His contact with Douglas later led to his performing with Lucille Ball in the play ''Dreamgirl''. Duggan developed a friendship with Broadway director Daniel Mann on a troop ship when returning from the war. ''Bourbon Street Beat'' is a private detective television series that aired on the ABC network from October 5, 1959, to July 4, 1960, starring Richard Long as Rex Randolph and Andrew Duggan as Cal Calhoun, with Arlene Howell as detective agency secretary Melody Lee Mercer and Van Williams as Kenny Madison. Randolph and Calhoun — Special Services was based in the Absinthe House, a French Quarter nightclub on the title street. The firm's telephone number was EXpress 7123.
