Trephina Gorge
Trephina Gorge is a gorge in the Northern Territory of Australia located in the locality of Hart in the East MacDonnell Ranges about east of Alice Springs. The gorge is named after the Trephina Creek which is believed to be named after Tryphina Benstead (née Rains) who was the wife of William (Bill) Benstead, the manager of Undoolya Station from 1877 onwards and the first licensee of the Stuart Arms Hotel in Alice Springs. Prior to August 1965, all of the gorge was located within The Garden pastoral lease. On 12 August 1965, land associated with part of the gorge was excised from the pastoral lease and gazetted as the "Trephina Gorge Scenic Reserve". This land was renamed in 1978 as the " Trephina Gorge Nature Park". On 17 September 2008, the title of this land was transferred to the Atnerrperrke Aboriginal Land Trust to be held on trust for its traditional owners. The Garden (pastoral Station)
The Garden is a property located north east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is run by Andy Hayes. The Hayes run both Hereford and Droughtmaster cattle on the property. In the 1940s a large poll shorthorn cattle herd was kept on the station. In 1965, a portion of land was excised from the pastoral lease and was gazetted as the "Trephina Gorge Scenic Reserve". This land was renamed in 1978 as the " Trephina Gorge Nature Park". Quad-biking tours currently operate on the station. Alice Springs
Alice Springs ( aer, Mparntwe) is the third-largest town in the Northern Territory of Australia. Known as Stuart until 31 August 1933, the name Alice Springs was given by surveyor William Whitfield Mills after Alice, Lady Todd (''née'' Alice Gillam Bell), wife of the telegraph pioneer Sir Charles Todd. Stuart Arms Hotel
The Stuart Arms Hotel was the first hotel in Alice Springs, Northern Territory (which was originally called Stuart). Located on the corner of Parsons and Todd Street, it was centre of social life for 96 years. History The Stuart Arms Hotel was established by pioneer pastoralist William Benstead, who received his publican's license in 1888. It was initially intended to be named the "Great Northern Hotel"; when the date and nature of the name change is not known. Benstead purchased lot 78 and 79 of the just gazetted town of Stuart on 9 April 1889. The hotel was erected on lot 78, "a modest structure of stone and iron, about the size of an average house". Benstead left town in 1892 and leased the Stuart Arms to Thomas Gunter, initially on a five-year lease, but Gunter stayed until 1900. Charles Rutherford South then took over the pub for seven years. Grey-headed Honeyeater
The grey-headed honeyeater (''Ptilotula keartlandi'') is a species of bird in the family Meliphagidae. It is endemic to Australia. Nomenclature, taxonomy and evolutionary history First described as ''Ptilotis keartlandi'' in 1895 by Australian ornithologist Alfred John North, the grey-headed honeyeater is named in honour of the ornithological collector George Arthur Keartland, who collected the type specimen. The taxonomy of the species has been complex since its description. For example, the species was listed in the genus ''Meliphaga'' in 1926 by the Royal Australian Ornithological Union Official Checklist of Birds, and then in the genus ''Lichenostomus'' by Schodde in 1975.
