''The Frog Prince: The Original Soundtrack Recording'' is a soundtrack album to the English and French produced romantic comedy film ''The Frog Prince'' (1984), released in 1985 by Island Visual Arts, a subsidiary label of Island Records. The music was composed by Irish singer, songwriter and musician Enya, but only two of its tracks, "The Frog Prince" and "Dreams", were performed by her with the remaining tracks performed by other musicians or arranged and produced by Richard Myhill; several jazz standards are also performed. It was reissued in August 1999 by Spectrum Music. She is the best-selling Irish solo artist in history and the second-best-selling overall artist in Ireland after U2. Born into a musical family and raised in the Irish-speaking area of Gweedore, County Donegal, Enya began her music career in 1980 when she joined her family's Celtic folk band, Clannad, playing keyboards and singing. Sweet Georgia Brown
"Sweet Georgia Brown" is a jazz standard composed in 1925 by Ben Bernie and Maceo Pinkard, with lyrics by Kenneth Casey. History Reportedly, Ben Bernie came up with the concept for the song's lyrics – although he is not the credited lyricist – after meeting Dr. George Thaddeus Brown in New York City. Dr. Brown, a longtime member of the Georgia State House of Representatives, told Bernie about his daughter, Georgia Brown, and how subsequent to the baby girl's birth on August 11, 1911, the Georgia General Assembly had issued a declaration that she was to be named Georgia after the state. This anecdote would be directly referenced by the song's lyric: "Georgia claimed her – Georgia named her." Michel Vaucaire (born 3 August 1904 in Brissago, Switzerland; died 18 June 1980 in Saint-Denis) was a French lyricist. He often collaborated with the composer Charles Dumont in whom he always had confidence to put his lyrics to music. He is perhaps best known as the author of " Non, je ne regrette rien" ("No, I regret nothing"), written in 1956, with its most notable recording completed in 1960 by singer Edith Piaf. Dumont tells in the book ''Édith Piaf, Opinions publiques'', by Bernard Marchois (TF1 Editions 1995), that Vaucaire's original title was "Non, je ne trouverai rien" (No, I will not find anything) and that the song was meant for the popular French singer Rosalie Dubois. Dumont is best remembered for writing or co-writing over 30 of the most well-known songs recorded by singer Édith Piaf, including Non, je ne regrette rien. Composer He wrote songs until the 1960s, sometimes under an alias, for Dalida, Gloria Lasso, Luis Mariano and Tino Rossi. He worked with lyricist Michel Vaucaire. Hoagland Howard Carmichael (November 22, 1899 – December 27, 1981) was an American musician, composer, songwriter, actor and lawyer. Carmichael was one of the most successful Tin Pan Alley songwriters of the 1930s, and was among the first singer-songwriters in the age of mass media to utilize new communication technologies such as television, electronic microphones, and sound recordings. Carmichael composed several hundred songs, including 50 that achieved hit record status. "Georgia on My Mind" is a 1930 song written by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell and first recorded that same year by Hoagy Carmichael. However, the song has been most often associated with soul singer Ray Charles, who was a native of the U.S. state of Georgia and recorded it for his 1960 album '' The Genius Hits the Road''. In 1979, the State of Georgia designated Ray Charles' version the official state song. The song has become part of the Great American Songbook tradition. Background and original recording It has been asserted that Hoagy Carmichael wrote the song about his sister, Georgia. But Carmichael wrote in his second autobiography ''Sometimes I Wonder'' that saxophonist Frankie Trumbauer told him he should write a song about the state of Georgia. Kenneth Casey (January 10, 1899 – August 10, 1965) was an American composer, publisher, author, and child movie star in early silents. Biography Born in New York City, Casey worked as a child actor in over thirty films for Vitagraph Studios between the years 1909 and 1913.
