Talpa is a commune in Teleorman County, Muntenia, Romania. It is composed of five villages: Linia Costii, Rotărești, Talpa-Bâscoveni, Talpa-Ogrăzile (the commune center), and Talpa Poștei. The commune is situated in the Wallachian Plain. Teleorman County () is a county (județ) of Romania on the border with Bulgaria, in the historical region Muntenia, with its capital city at Alexandria. The name ''Teleorman'' is of Cumanic ( Turkic) origin. It literally means ''crazy forest'' (Deli orman) and, by extension, "thick and shadowy forest" in the Cuman language. Alexandria () is the capital city of the Teleorman County, Muntenia, Romania. It is located south-west of Bucharest, towards the Bulgarian border, and has over 45,000 inhabitants. It was established in March 1889 at the initiative of Foreign Minister Petre P.
