Tabletop Runway
A tabletop runway is a runway that is located on the top of a plateau or hill with one or both ends adjacent to a steep precipice which drops into a deep gorge. This type of runway creates an optical illusion of being at the same level as the plains below, which requires a very precise visual approach by the pilot when autoland is not used or is not available at all. Matecaña International Airport
Matecaña International Airport ( es, link=no, Aeropuerto Internacional de Matecaña, ) is an international airport serving the city of Pereira, Colombia. It also serves as an alternate airport for the cities of Armenia, Cartago, Manizales, Medellín, Cali and Bogotá. The airport lies along the edge of a deep ravine, west of Pereira. There are steep dropoffs on the sides and ends of the runway. There is high terrain in all quadrants except south. Information The airport was built between 1944 and 1947. Its first official flight was a C-47 piloted by captain Luis Carlos Londoño Iragorrion on 24 July 1947. Lengpui Airport
Lengpui Airport is a domestic airport in Lengpui, serving Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, India. The airport is connected by flights to Kolkata, Guwahati and Imphal, and is located at a distance of 32 km from Aizawl. Lengpui Airport is the first airport in the country to be built by the Government of Mizoram. History The airport was constructed at a cost of ₹ 979 crore, and was completed in a record time of two years and two months. The construction work started in December 1995 and completed in February 1998. The airport was expected to be able to cater to 300 incoming and outgoing passengers. Mizoram
Mizoram () is a state in Northeast India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. Shimla Airport is a regional airport located in Jubbarhatti, from Shimla, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Kingfisher Airlines used to operate the sole daily flight from Delhi, but could not carry more than 28 passengers on its return journey because of load restrictions imposed on the aircraft due to Shimla's high altitude. It ceased operations to Shimla in September 2012. On April 27, 2017, commercial service was resumed by Alliance Air but then suspended it on March 2020.
