The Games Machine (Italy)
''The Games Machine'', also known by the acronym ''TGM'', is an Italian video game magazine that features previews, reviews and cheat codes. History Launched in September 1988 as the Italian edition of the British magazine ''The Games Machine'' by the Milan-based publishing company ''Xenia Edizioni''. The publishing of the Italian edition has continued also after the close of the British edition, ''The Games Machine'' became one of the most popular video games magazine in Italy. In November 2005, the former owner sold the magazine to Future Media Italy, a division of Future Publishing, and in January 2007 was acquired by the Italian publishing company ''Sprea Media Italy''. In 2014, property of the magazine was transferred again, this time to Aktia SRL. Cheating in video games involves a video game player using various methods to create an advantage beyond normal gameplay, usually in order to make the game easier. ''The Games Machine'' is a video game magazine that was published from 1987 until 1990 in the United Kingdom by Newsfield, which also published '' CRASH'', '' Zzap!64'', '' Amtix!'' and other magazines. History The magazine ran head to head with Future's recently launched '' ACE'' and EMAP's long running '' C&VG'' magazines. Unhappy with the profits from the title Newsfield decided to end the title in 1990. However Newsfield would, more or less, continue with a multi format magazine with ''Raze''. In Italy there are many magazines. Following the end of World War II the number of weekly magazines significantly expanded. From 1970 feminist magazines began to increase in number in the country. The number of consumer magazines was 975 in 1995 and 782 in 2004. There are also Catholic magazines and newspapers in the country. A total of fifty-eight Catholic magazines was launched between 1867 and 1922. From 1923 to 1943, the period of the Fascist Regime, only ten new Catholic magazines was started.
