Sturgeon Bay High School
Sturgeon Bay High School is a public high school located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. It is part of the Sturgeon Bay School District. Athletics Sturgeon Bay's athletic teams are known as the Clippers, and compete primarily in the Packerland Conference of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. The Clippers have won 14 WIAA state championships. Sturgeon Bay played football in the MONLPC (Marinette and Oconto, Northern Lakes, and Packerland) league until 2019, when low numbers forced them to move to eight-man football, where they play independently due to the school being too large to participate in eight-man football playoffs. Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Sturgeon Bay is a city in and the county seat of Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,646 at the 2020 Census. The city is well-known regionally for being the largest city of the Door Peninsula, after which the county is named. History The area was originally inhabited by the Ho-Chunk and Menominee. The town is known in the Menominee language as ''Namāēw-Wīhkit'', or "bay of the sturgeon". The Menominee ceded this territory to the United States in the 1831 Treaty of Washington. After that, the area was available for white settlement. The community was first recorded as Graham in 1855 but, in 1857, the state legislature organized it as the town of Ottumba. Subsequently, the name was reverted to Graham and, in 1860, a petition was submitted to the county board to change the community's name to that of the adjacent bay. Nick Greisen
Nick A. Greisen ( ; born August 10, 1979) is a former American football linebacker. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Wisconsin. Greisen also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos. He is the younger brother of quarterback Chris Greisen and the cousin of offensive lineman Casey Rabach. Early years Greisen was born and raised in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Lloyd George Wasserbach (January 30, 1921 – February 1, 1949) was a player in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) for the Chicago Rockets in 1946 and 1947 as a tackle. He played at the collegiate level at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Casey Edward Rabach (; born September 24, 1977) is a former American football center. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft, and also played professionally for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Wisconsin. Anna Augusta Von Helmholtz-Phelan (September 22, 1880 – January 10, 1964) was an American university professor, author, speaker, poet and social worker. Greisen (born July 2, 1976) is a former American football quarterback who played professionally the National Football League (NFL) for the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys and current coach for West De Pere High School. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) is the regulatory body for all high school sports in Wisconsin. Its history dates to 1895, making it the earliest continually existing high school athletic organization in the country.
