Stanstead, Quebec (township)
Stanstead is a township municipality of about 1,100 people in the Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec. It is not to be confused with the city of Stanstead, which is nearby although not directly adjacent (the municipality of Ogden lies in between). Formally, the township consists of two villages: Fitch Bay (founded in 1855) and Georgeville (founded in the 1890s). Both villages formed as a result of English-speaking migrants from the United States state of Vermont until borderline customs stations were established after 1920. Stanstead, Quebec (city)
Stanstead is a town in the Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec, located on the Canada–United States border across from Derby Line, Vermont. The Town of Stanstead was created in 1995 by the merger of the former villages of Stanstead Plain and Beebe (formerly Beebe Plain) and the Town of Rock Island. It is not to be confused with the township of Stanstead, which is nearby although not directly adjacent (the municipality of Ogden lies in between). Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley is a municipality in the Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality in the Eastern Townships region of Quebec, Canada. Located along Quebec Route 108 on Little Lake Magog, it is the home of the "Marais" birdwatching sanctuary, the Eglise Sainte Catherine de Hatley, as well as the Dominique Savio primary School. Magog, Quebec
Magog (; ) is a city in southeastern Quebec, Canada, about east of Montreal at the confluence of Lake Memphremagog—after which the city was named—with the Rivière aux Cerises and the Magog River. It is a major centre and industrial city in the Regional County Municipality of Memphremagog. The city lies in the Eastern Townships tourist region. In 2002 the City of Magog was merged with the Township of Magog and the Village of Omerville as part of the municipal reorganization in Quebec. Lake Memphremagog (; french: Lac Memphrémagog) is a fresh water glacial lake located between Newport, Vermont, United States and Magog, Quebec, Canada. The lake spans both Quebec and Vermont, but is mostly in Quebec. Most of the watershed that feeds the lake is located in Vermont, and is a source for accumulated phosphorus, sediments and other pollutants. Cleanup efforts since the late 1980s have improved the water quality. The lake furnishes potable water for 200,000 people. Austin is a municipality on the western shore of Lake Memphremagog, part of the Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. It was home to inventor Reginald Fessenden. It is named after Nicholas Austin who brought the first settlers, mostly Quakers, to this area from the state of New Hampshire in 1796. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Planning Consultation on census program content was from September 11 to December 8, 2017. The census was conducted by Statistics Canada, and was contactless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The agency had considered delaying the census until 2022.
