The Sindhudesh Liberation Army (also known as Sindh Liberation Army or SLA) is a Sindhi Militant organization based in the Sindh province of Pakistan. It became publicly known in 2010 after it claimed responsibility for a targeted bomb blast on railway tracks near Hyderabad, Pakistan. The group is currently active. Darya Khan is the leader of the group. Pakistan's media also stated that Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz's Chairman Mr. Shafi Muhammad Burfat is operating Sindhudesh Liberation Army from Kabul, however the claim doesn't have evidence. Sindhudesh ( sd, سنڌو ديش, ) is an idea of a separate homeland for Sindhis proposed by Sindhi nationalist parties for the creation of a Sindhi state, which would be either autonomous within Pakistan or independent from it. The movement is based in the Sindh region of Pakistan and was conceived by the Sindhi political leader G. M. Syed after the independence of Bangladesh. He gave a new direction to Sindhi nationalism, founded the Jeay Sindh Tehreek in 1972 and presented the idea of Sindhudesh. Sindhi nationalists sometimes claims the Kutch region of India, the Lasbela District of Balochistan, and sometimes southern Punjab particularly the Saraiki speaking regions. There are separatist movements in Pakistan which are based on ethnic and regional nationalism, including independence movements in Balawaristan, Sindh and Balochistan. The government of Pakistan has attempted to subdue these separatist movements. The separatist movement in Balochistan is engaged in a low-intensity insurgency against the Government of Pakistan. In 2009, the Pew Research Center conducted a Global Attitudes survey across Pakistan, in which it questioned respondents whether they viewed their primary identity as Pakistani or that of their ethnicity. The Insurgency in Sindh is a low-intensity insurgency waged by Sindhi Nationalists against the government of Pakistan. Sindhi nationalists want to create an independent state called Sindhudesh. The Balochistan Liberation Army ( bal, بلۏچستان آجوییء لشکر; abbreviated BLA), also known as the Baloch Liberation Army, is a Baloch ethnonationalist militant organization based in Afghanistan. Shafi Muhammad Burfat also known as Shafi Burfat ( Sindhi: شفيع محمد برفت); born November 25, 1965, is the founder and current chairman of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz; a separatist and liberal political party in Sindh, Pakistan who believes in the freedom of Sindhudesh from Pakistan.
