Sharq ( ar, شرق, Šarq) is a historic waterfront district of Kuwait City. It is Kuwait's oldest neighborhood although most pre-oil buildings were demolished. Governorates Of Kuwait
Kuwait is divided into 6 governorates ('' muhafazah''). The governorates are further subdivided into areas. The governorate is headed by a Governor appointed by a ministerial decree for a period of 4 years which can be renewed upon the proposal of the Prime Minister. History The beginning of the formation of governorates in the State of Kuwait started back in 1962 with the Emiri decree No. 6 which divided the Kuwait into three governorates i.e. Al Asimah Governorate, Ḩawallī Governorate and Al Aḩmadi Governorate. Later, Jahra Governorate, Farwaniya Governorate and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate were formed in 1979, 1988 and 1999 respectively. The Capital Governorate ( ), sometimes referred to as Al Kuwayt, is one of the six governorates of Kuwait. Kuwait City
Kuwait City ( ar, مدينة الكويت) is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. Located at the heart of the country on the south shore of Kuwait Bay on the Persian Gulf, it is the political, cultural and economical centre of the emirate, containing Kuwait's Seif Palace, government offices, and the headquarters of most Kuwaiti corporations and banks. It is one of the hottest cities in summer on earth, with average summer high temperatures over 45 °C (113 °F) for three months of the year. Souq Sharq
The Souk Sharq is a major shopping center in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The center began as a traditional souq but as the city has undergone investment it has expanded into a modernized shopping mall of approximately area. Overview On its two floors, there is a wide variety of retail outlets and many well-known high-street shops such as Britain's Debenham's, River Island, Next, GNC, Boots, Mothercare, Zara and The Body Shop. Arraya Tower
The Arraya Tower is a skyscraper completed in 2009 in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The tower serves as a grade-A office structure. With sixty storeys, and 300 metres high (with a 45-metre spire), the building was the tallest tower in Kuwait until the construction of Al Hamra Tower in 2011. On January 19, 2010, The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) announced that Arraya Tower was the 4th-tallest building completed in 2009. Curtis W. Fentress, FAIA, RIBA, of Fentress Architects, was the principal architect of the building, and Ahmadiah Construction was the primary contractor. The tower complements the existing 130-metre-high Arraya Tower housing offices and the Courtyard by Marriott hotel, as well as the upscale Arraya Shopping Mall and the Arraya Ballroom.
