Kanji
are the logographic Chinese characters taken from the Chinese script and used in the writing of Japanese. They were made a major part of the Japanese writing system during the time of Old Japanese and are still used, along with the subsequently-derived syllabic scripts of '' hiragana'' and '' katakana''. is a professor in the Department of Psychology at The University of Warwick. Kita's work focuses on the psycholinguistic properties of gestures accompanying speech, relations between spatial language and cognition, language development, and sound symbolism. Biography Kita received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1993, working in the lab of David McNeill. His dissertation focused on spontaneous gestures and Japanese mimetics. From 1993-2003 Kita led the Gesture Project at Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, one of the research foci of the MPI. From 2017-2023, Kita has served as the editor of ''GESTURE'' (published by John Benjamins). Misu Sōtarō
Baron was an admiral in the early Imperial Japanese Navy. Early life Misu was born in Hikone as the eldest son in a ''samurai'' class family. His father, Misu Kumajirō, was a retainer of the Ii clan, and was assigned command of the defenses of Edo Bay against the incursions of foreign vessels. After the Meiji Restoration, in August 1872, Misu entered the fledgling Imperial Japanese Navy; however, the navy was dominated former Satsuma samurai who were highly antagonistic to people from Hikone. Furthermore, his classmate, Dewa Shigetō, was from Aizu-Wakamatsu, whose former Matsudaira lords were the sworn enemies of the Hikone Ii clan. Misu survived partly through his father's connections with Yoshida Shōin, and through the support and patronage of Ijuin Gorō. Sōtarō Yasui
was a Japanese painter, noted for development of ''yōga'' (Western-style) portraiture in early twentieth-century Japanese painting. Biography Yasui was born to a merchant class household in Kyoto, but dropped out of commercial high school against his family's wishes to pursue a career in the arts. He studied oil painting under Asai Chū at the Shōgōin Yōga Kenkyujō and ''Kansai Bijutsu-in'' (Kansai Fine Art Academy) together with Ryuzaburo Umehara. In 1907, at the age of nineteen he moved to Paris, France to study at the Académie Julian under Jean-Paul Laurens. During this seven years, from 1907 to 1914, he was strongly influenced by the realistic styles of Jean-François Millet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and, in particular, Paul Cézanne. After graduating from Shimizu Commercial High School, he joined Yokohama Marinos (later ''Yokohama F. Marinos'') in 1995. In 1995 season, he played many matches and won the champions J1 League. is a railway station in Saiki, Ōita, Japan. It is operated by JR Kyushu and is on the Nippō Main Line. Lines The station is served by the Nippō Main Line and is located 231.0 km from the starting point of the line at . Layout The station consists of two side platforms serving two track with a siding set on a side hill cutting in a remote mountainous area. The station is not staffed and there is no station building. A small shed and a public telephone call box are provided as a passenger shelter near the station entrance and another shelter is provided on the opposite side platform.
