Sujeewa Senasinghe
Sujeewa Senasinghe ( Sinhala: සුජීව සේනසිංහ; born 13 December 1971) is a Sri Lankan lawyer and former politician. He was a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and the State Minister for International Trade until 2019. Early life and education Senasinghe was born in Kandy, the son of Stanley Senasinghe, a senior lawyer in Kandy and Upamalika Senasinghe, a lecturer. He is the youngest of three brothers; his brothers are Namal and Chaminda. Sujeewa was educated at Trinity College, Kandy and at the Sri Lanka Law College. Political career Sujeewa obtained 117,049 preferential votes from the Colombo district at the General Elections held on 17 August 2015. This was the second highest number of preferential votes obtained by a United National Party member from the Colombo district. 2020 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Sri Lanka on 5 August 2020 to elect 225 members to Sri Lanka's 16th Parliament. 16,263,885 people were eligible to vote in the election, 31.95% of whom were young voters. The incumbent Sri Lanka People's Freedom Alliance coalition claimed a landslide victory in the election, winning 145 seats, while Samagi Jana Balawegaya won 54 seats, Tamil National Alliance won 10 seats and National People's Power won 3 seats. The main opposition United National Party suffered the worst showing in its history following a split over party leadership, finishing in fourth place with only one seat. Kandy
Kandy ( si, මහනුවර ''Mahanuwara'', ; ta, கண்டி Kandy, ) is a major city in Sri Lanka located in the Central Province. It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka.
