''Newsroom'' is a New Zealand online news publication that was founded by Tim Murphy and Mark Jennings in 2017 and is co-edited by them. It focuses on New Zealand politics, current affairs and social issues. History Original NewsRoom The original website at newsroom.co.nz was launched by Peter Fowler on 21 November 1996 and was called ''NewsRoom''. It aggregated breaking news and press releases. Fowler sold it to NZX in 2007, and they sold it to Craig Pellett's company Sublime (now called Streamline) in 2014. Pellett's company sold it to Newsroom NZ Ltd in 2017. Independent Newspapers Limited (INL) was a newspaper publisher in New Zealand. Started as the Wellington Publishing Company in 1906 to publish ''The Dominion'', it began taking over other newspapers in the 1970s and was renamed Independent Newspapers in 1972. It accumulated more than 80 publications before selling them all to Fairfax in 2003. INL then merged into Sky Network Television in 2005. INL was part-owned by News Limited since early in 1964, when Rupert Murdoch made his first overseas newspaper investment – a 29.57 percent stake in the Wellington Publishing Company. The company was founded by John Fairfax as John Fairfax and Sons, who purchased ''The Sydney Morning Herald'' in 1841. Sinead Marie Boucher ( O'Hanlon; born 26 June 1970) is a New Zealand journalist and chief executive of Stuff Ltd. On 31 May 2020 she became the owner of Stuff Ltd and in July 2023 became executive chair. Early life and family Born in 1970 to Sean and Mary O'Hanlon, Boucher moved with her family from Belfast, Northern Ireland, to Christchurch, New Zealand, when she was about three years old. She was educated at Villa Maria College. After beginning to study law at the University of Canterbury, she dropped out and worked at McDonald's, before returning to Ireland for a time. Radio New Zealand (), commonly known as RNZ or Radio NZ, is a New Zealand public service broadcaster and Crown entity.
