Stephen Gogolev (born December 22, 2004) is a Canadian figure skater. He is the 2023 CS Autumn Classic International, 2023 CS Autumn Classic bronze medalist and the 2019 Canadian Figure Skating Championships, Canadian national silver medalist. Gogolev is the 2018 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final, Junior Grand Prix Final champion, the 2018 ISU Junior Grand Prix in Slovakia, JGP Slovakia champion, the 2019 ISU Junior Grand Prix in the United States, JGP U.S. silver medalist, the 2020 Bavarian Open junior champion, and the 2017 Canadian Figure Skating Championships, Canadian junior national champion. He has set five junior world record scores. He holds the Canadian record total score for junior men, as well as the national historical record total scores for pre-novice and novice men. 2019–20 ISU Junior Grand Prix
The 2019–20 ISU Junior Grand Prix was a series of junior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union that were held from August 2019 through December 2019. It was the junior-level complement to the 2019–20 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Medals were awarded in single skating, men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the 2019–20 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, 2019–20 Junior Grand Prix Final in Turin, Italy. The Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club is a private sport and social club located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Marie-France Dubreuil
Marie-France Dubreuil (born August 11, 1974) is a Canadian ice dancing coach and former competitor. With her husband Patrice Lauzon, she is a two-time (2006–2007) World silver medallist. Personal life Marie-France Dubreuil was born on August 11, 1974, in Montreal, Quebec. She married her Canadian partner and skater Patrice Lauzon in August 2008. On December 24, 2010, she gave birth to their daughter, Billie-Rose. Competitive career When Dubreuil was five, she asked for skating lessons for her birthday and her grandmother gave her skates as a present. She took up ice dancing at the age of ten. Conrad Orzel
Conrad Orzel (born July 11, 2000) is a retired Canadian figure skater and model. He is the 2019 Bavarian Open silver medalist and 2023 Canadian national silver medalist. Earlier in his career, he won two medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series and placed 13th at the 2017 and 2018 World Junior Championships. Personal life Orzel was born on July 11, 2000, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is of Polish ancestry and speaks English, French, and Polish. Orzel graduated from York University in May 2024. He also announced his retirement from competitive skating in order to pursue a career in public venture capital. Career Orzel began learning to skate in 2003. Javier Fernández López (; born 15 April 1991) is a Spanish former figure skater. Toe Loop Jump
The toe loop jump is the simplest Figure skating jumps, jump in the sport of figure skating. It was invented in the 1920s by American professional figure skater Bruce Mapes. The toe loop is accomplished by skating forward on the inside edge of the blade; the skater then switches to a backward-facing position before their takeoff, which is accomplished from a back outside edge with assistance from the toe pick on the other foot. The jump is exited on the same back outside edge as it was taken off from. It is often added to more difficult jumps during combinations and is the most common second jump performed in combinations. Salchow Jump
The Salchow jump is an edge jump in figure skating. It was named after its inventor, Ulrich Salchow, in 1909. The Salchow is accomplished with a takeoff from the back inside edge of one foot and a landing on the back outside edge of the opposite foot. It is "usually the first jump that skaters learn to double, and the first or second to triple".Kestnbaum, p. 284 Timing is critical because both the takeoff and landing must be on the backward edge. A Salchow is deemed cheated if the skate blade starts to turn forward before the takeoff, or if it has not turned completely backward when the skater lands back on the ice. Quad (figure Skating)
A quadruple jump or quad is a figure skating jump with at least four (but fewer than five) revolutions. All quadruple jumps have four revolutions, except for the quadruple Axel, which has four and a half revolutions. The quadruple toe loop and quadruple Salchow are the two most commonly performed quads. Quadruple jumps have become increasingly common among World and Olympic level men's single skaters, to the point that not performing a quad in a program has come to be seen as a severe handicap. This phenomenon is often referred to as the "quad revolution". Since 2018, quadruple jumps have also become an increasingly common feature of women's skating, although they are not allowed under the International Skating Union ("ISU") rules in the ladies' short program.
