Stars Academy (season 1)
'' Stars Academy'' is a Hong Kong singing competition television series to find young singing talents. The first season premiered on 10 April 2021 and continued until 19 July 2021 for 14 episodes. Hosted by Sammy Leung, the show featured Hacken Lee as the coaching supervisor, along with AGA, Pakho Chau, Vincy Chan, JW, Gin Lee, and Janice Vidal as coaches. Throughout the competition, several performances gained popularity among the viewers, including Chantel Yiu's "Love Prediction" (), Gigi Yim's "Without You, I Still Love You" (), and Yumi Chung's "Wild City" (). The show was won by Gigi Yim. Following the finale, the contestants held a 4-day live concert titled First Live on Stage from 12 to 15 August 2021. The programme's popularity led TVB to continue its run for a second season (2022). Sammy Leung
Sammy Leung Chi Kin is an actor under TVB, DJ, singer, and host for Commercial Radio Hong Kong. Life and career Leung was raised in Kwai Shing Estate, and received his secondary education at St. Stephen's College and La Salle College, graduating with a score of 25 (1A5B) in the HKCEE. He graduated from Chinese University of Hong Kong's School of Journalism and Communication. He was invited to be a lecturer at his alma mater, teaching radio production and media studies, until he left in 2006 to pursue his radio career further. Leung tried out to become a DJ for Commercial Radio when he was studying at the New Asia College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Cantopop
Cantopop (a contraction of "Standard Cantonese, Cantonese pop music") or HK-pop (short for "Hong Kong pop music") is a genre of pop music written in standard Chinese and sung in Standard Cantonese, Cantonese. Cantopop is also used to refer to the cultural context of its production and consumption. The genre began in the 1970s and became associated with Hong Kong popular music from the middle of the decade. Cantopop then reached its height of popularity in the 1980s and 1990s before slowly declining in the 2000s and experiencing a slight revival in the 2010s. The term "Cantopop" itself was coined in 1978 after "Cantorock", a term first used in 1974. Jay Fung
Jay Fung Wan-him (Chinese:馮允謙, born 22 February 1988) is a Hong Kong-Canadian singer-songwriter. He won the 1st runner up in The Voice 3. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Edmonton, Canada, his style of singing is deeply influenced by Western pop music. He signed a contract with Music Plus Label at 2012 and debuted with the song "Starting From Today"(今天開始). In 2018, he joined Media Asia Music. Phil Lam Yik-hong (, born 12 June 1985 as Lam Hon Fai) is a Canadian-born Hong Kong artist and sing-songwriter. Alan Tam
Alan Tam Wing-lun MH (; born 23 August 1950) is a Hong Kong singer and actor. He played a major role in developing the Cantopop scene in the 1980s as he was known for singing romantic ballads with modern arrangements. From 1983 to 1987, Alan Tam received numerous music awards and won Most Popular Male Artist and IFPI Award for successive four years, which made him the most famous superstar singer of Hong Kong in 1980s. Johnny Yim
Johnny Yim Lai-hang (born 12 August 1977) is a Hong Kong pianist, composer, arranger, and producer. Life and career Yim was born in Hong Kong, coming from a family with a musical background, with one parent a musician and the other a dance choreographer. He has a sister named Alice. Yim's journey in music began at the age of six when he started learning the piano.
