Sprint (running)
Sprinting is running over a short distance at the top-most speed of the body in a limited period of time. It is used in many sports that incorporate running, typically as a way of quickly reaching a target or goal, or avoiding or catching an opponent. Human physiology dictates that a runner's near-top speed cannot be maintained for more than 30–35 seconds due to the depletion of phosphocreatine stores in muscles, and perhaps secondarily to excessive metabolic acidosis as a result of anaerobic glycolysis. In athletics and track and field, sprints (or dashes) are races over short distances. They are among the oldest running competitions, being recorded at the Ancient Olympic Games. The Sprinter is a diesel railcar built by A Goninan & Co in Broadmeadow, NSW for V/Line between 1993 and 1995. Design origins The Sprinter concept dates back to 1989, when the Public Transport Corporation, having seen a substantial increase in patronage and reduction in costs following the introduction of faster, more frequent services as part of the New Deal (railway), New Deal for Country Passengers program of the 1980s, required additional train capacity to meet demand. "Sprinter" is a song by British rappers Dave and Central Cee. It was released on 1 June 2023 through Neighbourhood and Live Yours, and included on the collaborative and fifth overall EP ''Split Decision'', released four days later. It debuted at number one in the UK Singles Chart, becoming Dave's third number-one single and Central Cee's first. The single also became the longest-running number-one rap song in the UK, holding the position for 10 weeks. It also topped the charts in Australia, Ireland, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Switzerland. Background The song was first teased by Cee on his Instagram stories on 18 March 2023, revealing that Dave had just sent him an audio file. They were also spotted in the studio together on 10 May. Sprinter (stylized as SPRINTER) is a hybrid rail (light rail with some features similar to commuter rail) service operating in the North County area of San Diego County between the cities of Escondido and Oceanside, California, United States. The service uses the Escondido Subdivision of the San Diego Northern Railroad. Station platforms were constructed for the line's fifteen stations serving the cities of Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido. A sprinter is a road bicycle racer or track cycling, track racer who can finish a race very explosively by acceleration, accelerating quickly to a high speed, often using the slipstream of domestique, another cyclist or group of cyclists tactically to conserve energy. Apart from using sprinting as a racing tactic, sprinters can also compete for intermediate sprints (sometimes called ''primes''), often to provide additional excitement in cities along the route of a race. In stage races, intermediate sprints and final stage placings may be combined in a points classification. NS Sprinter Lighttrain
The Sprinter Lighttrain or SLT is an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train type operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen in the Netherlands. They were built from 2007 to 2012 by Bombardier (2400) and Siemens (2600). It is the successor of the Sprinter SGM train type. Names * Sprinter Lighttrain * Sprinter * SLT * S70 or S100 General information The SLT is designed to replace the Mat '64 trains from the 1960s and 1970s. The first 35 sets were ordered in 2005 and the first set, 2402 arrived in January 2008. The second set, 2602 arrived in February 2008 and both were used on test runs.
