Shala e Bajgorës is a mountainous (hilly) region in Kosovo, that lies between the valley of the river Ibar and Llap, at the foot of the Kopaonik, concentrated primarily around cities, Vushtrri and Mitrovica, and towns Trepça and Stanberg, with village of Bajgora being the largest of their 37 settlements. Vushtrri
Vushtrri ( sq-definite, Vushtrria) or Vučitrn ( sr-Cyrl, Вучитрн), is a city and municipality located in the Mitrovica District in northern Kosovo. According to the 2011 census, the town of Vushtrri has 26,964 inhabitants, while the municipality has 69,870 inhabitants. Vushtrri is surrounded by the city of Mitrovica to the north, Podujeva in the east, Obiliq in the south, Drenas in the south-west, and Skënderaj in the west. The municipality of Vushtrri has 67 villages. In antiquity, Vushtrri may have been known as Viciana. When the Roman Empire invaded Dardania in the 1st century BC, the Romans added the Latin suffix 'um' to the name of Viciana, therefore becoming Vicianum. Mitrovica ( sq-definite, Mitrovicë; sr-cyrl, Митровица) or Kosovska Mitrovica ( sr-cyrl, Косовска Митровица) is a city and municipality located in Kosovo. Settled on the banks of Ibar and Sitnica rivers, the city is the administrative center of the District of Mitrovica. The Stari Trg mine (Serbian: Рудник Стари Трг, ''Rudnik Stari Trg'') is one of the largest lead and zinc mines in Kosovo. The mine is located in Leposavić. The mine has reserves amounting to 0.432 million tonnes of ore grading 5.1% lead, 2.21% zinc and 80.5gr/t silver thus resulting 22,000 tonnes of lead, 9,600 tonnes of zinc and 35 tonnes of silver. Bajgora
Bajgora (indefinite form in Albanian: ''Bajgorë'', Serbian; Бајгора) is a village in Kosovo. Located in the municipality of Mitrovica. It is located in the south of the Kopaonik range. Bislim Bajgora
Bislim Kadri Bajgora (c. 1900 – 1 March 1947) was an Albanian nationalist and Axis collaborator, Adjutant for the Balli Kombetar forces of Kosovo during World War II. Early life Born in Mitrovica sometime around the 1900s to an Albanian patriotic family, he grew up with guns and tales of Albanian heroism. He was from the Shala tribe of Mitrovica. When the Axis powers occupied Kosovo in the 1940s, Kosovar-Albanians saw the chance to free themselves from Yugoslav rule and collaborated with the Germans. When the Germans occupied Kosovo, the Albanians freely chose to serve in the German Army which surprised the Germans. Bislim Bajgora was offered by the DDR to join the German military police and get a plot in Hamburg, and Bislim rejected it, and said that he will not accept it and he will fight for his country. Isa Boletini
Isa Boletini (; 15 January 186423 or 24 January 1916) was an Albanian revolutionary commander and politician and rilindas from Kosovo. As a young man, he joined the Albanian nationalist League of Prizren and participated in a battle against Ottoman forces. After this, he was temporarily loyal to the Ottoman sultan and built a power base in the Mitrovica area. He served as the commander of Ottoman palace guards in Istanbul for four years (1902–06), returning with a land grant, officer rank and the command of the local militia. In 1909, he and other Kosovo Albanian chieftains, revolted against the Young Turk imposition of taxes on Muslims. Next, he took an important role in the 1910 revolt against Ottoman rule, the Albanian revolt of 1912, then fought against the Montenegrin and Serbian armies in Kosovo. It has been connected to the Albanian term ''shalë(sinë)'' denoting an arid or infertile land, however, this etymology does not seem likely considering that the Shala Valley is among the only regions in the Albanian Alps suitable for agriculture.
