Amsterdam Airport Schiphol , known informally as Schiphol Airport (, ), is the main international airport of the Netherlands, and is one of the major hubs for the SkyTeam airline alliance. It is located southwest of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in the province of North Holland. It was the world's third busiest airport by international passenger traffic in 2023. With almost 72 million passengers in 2019, it is the third-busiest airport in Europe in terms of passenger volume and the busiest in Europe in terms of aircraft movements. With an annual cargo tonnage of 1.74 million, it is the 4th busiest in Europe. AMS covers a total area of of land. This is a list of the 100 busiest airports in Europe, ranked by total passengers per year, including both terminal and transit passengers. Figures are usually updated in January or February as statistics for the previous year are released. This data is sourced individually for each airport, from a variety of sources, but normally from the relevant national aviation authority, or directly from the airport operator. The tables also show the percentage change in total passengers for each airport over the last year. Haarlemmermeer () is a List of municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the west of the Netherlands, in the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of North Holland. Haarlemmermeer is a polder, consisting of land reclaimed from water.
