San Polo (Brescia Metro)
San Polo is a station of the Brescia Metro, in the city of Brescia in northern Italy. The station is centrally located in the populous district of San Polo. Although the station is officially designated as just "San Polo", it is usually referred to as "Cimabue" to distinguish it from the "San Polo Parco" station. With its 20,000 inhabitants San Polo is one of the most densely populated districts of Brescia and most people get to the station by bus, the bus stop is right in front of the stairs, on foot or by bicycle. Because the station primarily serves the neighbourhood and is not a transportation hub there are only about thirty parking spaces along the street. The Brescia Metro ( it, Metropolitana di Brescia) is a rapid transit network serving Brescia, Lombardy, Italy. The network comprises a single line, having a length of and a total of 17 stations from ''Prealpino'' to ''Sant´Eufemia-Buffalora'', located respectively at the north and southeast of Brescia. During the 1980s, road congestion in the vicinity of Brescia rose dramatically, resulting in the City Council becoming interested in the adoption of a new mass transit platform to provide an alternative means of access around the city. Angela Merici
Angela Merici or Angela de Merici ( , ; 21 March 1474 – 27 January 1540) was an Italian religious educator, who is honored as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. She founded the Company of St. Ursula in 1535 in Brescia, in which women dedicated their lives to the service of the church through the education of girls. From this organisation later sprang the monastic Order of Saint Ursula, whose nuns established places of prayer and learning throughout Europe and, later, worldwide, most notably in North America. Life Merici was born in 1474 on a farm near Desenzano del Garda, a small town on the southwestern shore of Lake Garda in Lombardy, Italy. She and her older sister, Giana Maria, were left orphans when she was ten years old. They went to live with their uncle in the town of Salò.
