Salvatore Rossi
Salvatore Rossi OMRI (born January 6, 1949) is an Italian economist and civil servant who serves as the director of the Bank of Italy since May 2013. Prior to his position, he served in several financial and economic institutions in Italy, including as chair of the board of directors of Telecom Italia from October 2019 to April 2024. Career Rossi began his career at the Bank of Italy in 1976. He held various positions, including head of the Economic Research Department in 2000. Between 2007 and 2011, he served as the chief economist in the economic research and international relations area. In 2011, he was appointed secretary general and advisor to the governing board, where he focused on economic policy matters. Order Of Merit Of The Italian Republic
The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic () is the most senior Italian order of merit. It was established in 1951 by the second President of Italy, President of the Italian Republic, Luigi Einaudi. The highest-ranking honour of the Republic, it is awarded for "merit acquired by the nation" in the fields of science, literature, arts, economy, public service, and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities and for long and conspicuous service in civilian and military careers. The post-nominal letters for the order are OMRI. The order effectively replaced national orders such as the Civil Order of Savoy (1831), the Order of the Crown of Italy (1868), the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus (1572) and the Supreme Order of the Most Holy Annunciation (1362). Fabrizio Saccomanni (22 November 1942 – 8 August 2019) was an Italian economist, civil servant and the director general of the Bank of Italy. He served as minister of economy and finance between April 2013 and February 2014. From 13 April 2018 until his death, Saccomanni was the chairman of UniCredit. Early life and education Saccomanni was born in Rome on 22 November 1942. He held a master's degree in economics and business, which he received from the Bocconi University in 1966.
