Saliha Sultan (; "''the devoted one''"; 16 June 1811 – 5 February 1843) was an Ottoman Empire, Ottoman princess, the daughter of Sultan Mahmud II and Aşubcan Kadın. She was the half-sister of Sultans Abdulmejid I and Abdulaziz. Early life Saliha Sultan was born 16 June 1811 in the Topkapı Palace. Her father was Sultan Mahmud II, and her mother was Aşubcan Kadın. In addition to various half-brothers and sisters, she had two infants-dead blood sisters, an older, Ayşe Sultan, and a younger, Şah Sultan. She was the granddaughter of Abdul Hamid I and Nakşidil Sultan. Marriage In 1834, when Saliha was twenty three years old, her father arranged her marriage to Damat Damat Gürcü Halil Rifat Pasha, Gürcü Halil Rifat Pasha. Damat Gürcü Halil Rifat Pasha
Damat Gürcü Halil Rifat Pasha, (; 1795 – 3 March 1856) was an Ottoman admiral and statesman of Georgians, Georgian origin. He served in the periods of Mahmud II and Abdulmejid I. Career Halil Rifat Pasha was a slave, protégé and later rival of Koca Hüsrev Mehmed Pasha. He first served as the ambassador to Russia from 1829 to 1830. He then served as Kapudan Pasha, grand admiral for four times from 1830 to 1832, 1843–1845, 1847–1848 and 1854–1855, as well as chairman of the Supreme Council of Judicial Ordinances ("Meclis-i Vâlâ") from 1842 to 1845 and 1849–1850. He also served as Serasker from 1836 to 1838 and 1839–1840. This placed him in a good position to build and maintain a conservative group, usually in corporation with Hüsrev Pasha. Mehmed IV
Mehmed IV (; ; 2 January 1642 – 6 January 1693), nicknamed as Mehmed the Hunter (), was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1648 to 1687. He came to the throne at the age of six after his father was overthrown in a coup. Mehmed went on to become the second-longest-reigning sultan in Ottoman history after Suleiman the Magnificent. Ahmed III
Ahmed III (, ''Aḥmed-i sālis''; was sultan of the Ottoman Empire and a son of sultan Mehmed IV (r. 1648–1687). His mother was Gülnuş Sultan, originally named Evmania Voria, who was an ethnic Greek. Damat Mahmud Djelaleddin Pasha (1853–17 January 1903) was an Ottoman statesman, poet and writer. Biography His father was the Ottoman naval officer Damat Gürcü Halil Rifat Pasha of Georgian descent and his mother was Ismet Hanım, his third wife (his second wife was the late Saliha Sultan, daughter of Sultan Mahmud II).
