Raw Comedy Award
Raw Comedy is an Australian annual competition for emerging stand-up comedy, stand-up comedians held by Melbourne International Comedy Festival. It was established in 1996 and is supported by national youth radio station Triple J. In 2011, there were 1,100 contestants. Heats take place in major Australian cities through January, February and March. State semi-finals and finals are held in the state capitals in March. The final is held as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April and televised on ABC (Australian TV channel), ABC. The winner of Raw Comedy is sent to the So You Think You're Funny competition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Three Raw Comedy winners, Drew Rokos, Nick Sun and Demi Lardner have gone on to win So You Think You're Funny. Past winners and finalists References External links

Adam Richard (born Adam Richard Dellamarta, 1 January 1971 in Carlton, Victoria) is an Australian comedian, actor, radio presenter, writer and media personality, best known co-writing and starring in '' Outland,'' an ABC1 comedy series about a group of LGBT sci-fi geeks. Hannah Gadsby
Hannah Gadsby (born 1978) is an Australian comedian, writer, and actress. She began her career in Australia after winning the national final of the Raw Comedy competition for new comedians in 2006. In 2018, her show '' Nanette'' on Netflix won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special and a Peabody Award. Joshua Michael Thomas (born 26 May 1987) is an Australian comedian, actor and writer. In 2005, he won the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Raw Comedy Competition. He has since appeared on television numerous times, including as a regular and Generation Y team captain on Network Ten's ''Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation''. In 2013, Thomas created the award-winning ABC2 and Pivot television series ''Please Like Me'', which he also co-wrote and starred in.

Sam Simmons (comedian)
Sam Simmons (born 19 March 1976) is an Australian comedian and radio and TV presenter. Career Simmons has appeared on '' Conan'', ''8 Out of 10 Cats'', ''Room 101'', '' Adam DeVine's House Party'' and is currently developing his own sitcom in the UK. Michael Chamberlin is a Melbourne-based stand up comedian. Along with fellow comedian Charlie Pickering, Chamberlin was a co-creator of Melbourne comedy room ''Stagetime''. Geraldine Hickey is an Australian comedian, known for her work as co-host of the '' Breakfasters'' program on Melbourne community radio station 3RRR.
