Bachatón (also known as bachateo) is a fusion genre of reggaeton from Puerto Rico as well as bachata from the Dominican Republic. Among the most prominent acts of the scene are Tomasa del Real from Chile and Ms Nina from Argentina. Within the United States, neoperreo is more popular in Los Angeles than in Miami, where traditional reggaeton prevails. Alternative Reggaeton
Alternative reggaeton is a subgenre of reggaeton that emerged from the reggaeton movement as a reaction to its repetitive and monotone dembow rhythm, and the predominant stereotypical gangsta content that became predictable. The result was a complex sound derived from world sounds, mainly rooted in other Latin American music based genres such as bomba, plena, salsa, bachata, merengue, cumbia, tango and other foreign influenced music such as alternative rock, rock en español and Latin alternative. Dominican Dembow
Dominican dembow (), also known as simply dembow, is a style of music originating from the Dominican Republic which has been mostly described as a subgenre or derivative form of reggaeton which evolved from dancehall. Dominican dembow is characterized by its use of a sped-up dembow rhythm as its core percussion element (while standard reggaeton employs the same rhythm at a slower tempo). The name dembow is credited to the Shabba Ranks song Dem Bow which was remixed by Wisin Y Yandel and many others and the Dembow beat became a staple in the reggaeton community. The subgenre diverged from early reggaeton during the 2000s. Latin trap is a subgenre of Latin hip hop music that originated in Puerto Rico. A direct descendant of southern hip hop and trap, and influenced by reggaeton, R&B and urbano music. it gained popularity after 2007, and has since spread throughout Latin America.
