The Shire of Cook (The Shire) is a local government area in Far North Queensland, Australia. The Shire covers most of the eastern and central parts of Cape York Peninsula, the most northerly section of the Australian mainland. It covers an area of , and is the largest LGA in the state. Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park protects a large part of Australia's Great Barrier Reef from damaging activities. It is a vast multiple-use Marine Park which supports a wide range of uses, including commercial marine tourism, fishing, ports and shipping, recreation, scientific research and Indigenous traditional use. Fishing and the removal of artefacts or wildlife (fish, coral, seashells, etc.) is strictly regulated, and commercial shipping traffic must stick to certain specific defined shipping routes that avoid the most sensitive areas of the park. Weymouth Bay is a bay in North Queensland, Australia. The bay opens onto the Coral Sea, part of the South Pacific Ocean. The Pascoe River flows into the bay. To the south of the bay is the Kutini-Payamu National Park. Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) is a National Park located in Queensland, Australia, northwest of Brisbane and east of Weipa in the Cape York Peninsula, Queensland. Within the National Park is the Iron Range (Lockhart River Resources Reserve), Scrubby Creek mining site and the Aboriginal Shire of Lockhart River. During World War II several Australian Army units were stationed in the area. Pascoe River
The Pascoe River is a river located in Far North Queensland, Australia. The headwaters rise under Mount Yangee in the Table Range, part of the Great Dividing Range at the northern end of Cape York Peninsula. The river initially flows south then west past the Sir William Thompson Range then veers north through the mostly uninhabited country. Flowing past Hamilton Hill the river then heads east past Wattle Hill and runs parallel with the Goddard Hills forming the northern border of Kutini-Payamu National Park. The river finally discharges into Weymouth Bay and onto the Coral Sea.
