Pas Ioannina
PAS Giannina Football Club ( el, ΠΑΕ ΠΑΣ Γιάννινα 1966), or with its full name Panepirotikos Athlitikos Syllogos Giannina ( el, Πανηπειρωτικός Αθλητικός Σύλλογος Γιάννινα, ''Panepirotic Athletic Club Giannina'') is a Greek professional football club based in the city of Ioannina, the capital of Epirus region. PAS Giannina was formed in 1966 as a result of the union of the two local teams – AO Ioanninon (union of Atromitos Ioanninon and Olympiacos Ioanninon in 1962) and PAS Averof. As emblem of the new team was chosen the bull, as appeared on the ancient coin of the Epirote League. The club have competed several times in the Super League. The club is probably best known among Greek football fans for its loyal support and its status as the most successful football club in Epirus region. Zosimades Stadium
The National Stadium of Ioannina ( el, Εθνικό Στάδιο Ιωαννίνων), more commonly known as Zosimades Stadium ( el, Στάδιο "Ζωσιμάδες") is a multi-purpose stadium based on Ioannina, Greece and named after the 18th-century Zosimades brothers, benefactors of the city. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home of PAS Giannina. The rock band Scorpions held a concert in the Zosimades Stadium in 2010. Jacek Gmoch
Jacek Wojciech Gmoch (born 13 January 1939 in Pruszków) is a former Polish footballer, who later became a trainer and manager of the Poland National Team. While having a successful football career he graduated in communication from the Warsaw University of Technology. Gmoch begun playing for Znicz Pruszków, later moving on for a successful career at Legia Warsaw. With Legia, he won the Polish Cup twice (in 1964 and 1966) and contributed to the beginning of the successful 1968–69 season. He also became a player for the national Team of Poland (29 caps). Following a major injury in a friendly match, Gmoch began a coaching career, starting in Legia Warsaw in 1969–71. Having been offered the Poland National Team assistant's job by Kazimierz Górski, he lasted from 1971–74. Together they achieved an Olympic Gold medal in Munich 1972, as well as 3rd Place in the 1974 World Cup. Balkans Cup
The Balkans Cup was an international football competition for clubs from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. It was introduced in 1961 and was very popular in the 1960s (the 1967 final attracted 42,000 spectators), being the second most important international club competition for clubs from the region (after the European Champions' Cup in which the champions could play; the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup originally attracted few teams from the region as many did not organise domestic cups regularly and only Yugoslavia had significant representation in the Fairs Cup). The competition has been dominated by Bulgaria-based teams. The Bulgarian teams have won together a total number of 9 titles. It later declined after Balkan clubs obtained more representation in the two minor UEFA competitions, in contrast to the (much older but also defunct) Balkan Cup for national teams.
