POWRi Midget Racing
POWRi (Performance Open Wheeled Racing, inc.) is an oval track racing sanctioning body based in the United States, founded by promoter Kenny Brown. It organizes the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series, a midget car racing series rival to the USAC National Midget Series, as well as the Lucas Oil POWRi West Series and Lucas Oil Outlaw Midget Series feeder series. Also it organizes the POWRi WAR Sprints, a wingless sprint car racing series, plus the POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprints. Drivers that have competed in POWRi events include Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson, Bryan Clauson, Brady Bacon, Christopher Bell, Dave Darland, Rico Abreu and Andrew Felker. Cars Sprint cars weight 1,475 pounds and have 410 cu in engines that produce 900 horsepower. A typical Midget weighs about 1,000 pounds and produces up to 350 horsepower from its four-cylinder engine. Dave Darland
David Lee Darland (born September 4, 1966) is an American auto racing driver from Kokomo, Indiana. He was the 1997 USAC Silver Crown Champion, 1999 USAC National Sprint Car Champion, and 2001 and 2002 USAC National Midget Champion, making him the third driver to claim all three USAC National Championships. He is nicknamed "The People's Champ". Background Darland was born and raised in Lincoln, Indiana. His father was a steelworker and his mother was a housewife. Racing career Darland began racing quarter midgets when he was four years old. His father Bob Darland helped build his first sprint car when he was 16 years old. Darland's first sprint car win happened at Kokomo Speedway when he beat Steve Kinser's father Bob in 1986. Darland won over 100 features in his own sprint car. Lucas Oil Speedway is a motorsports racing facility located at the intersection of U.S. Route 54 and Missouri Route 83, in Wheatland, Missouri, United States. Its primary circuit is a dirt track banked oval motorsport race track. Rico Emanuel Abreu (born January 30, 1992) is an American professional dirt track and sprint car racing driver. Abreu won the 2014 USAC National Midget Series championship, and previously competed in the K&N Pro Series East in 2015 scoring one win. Racing career Early career and dirt racing Abreu first began racing dirt bikes, but after watching an Outlaw kart race in Vallejo, California, started to race shifter karts. When he turned 15, he was given his first Outlaw kart. To support his career, his father built a th-mile asphalt oval in his backyard. Christopher David Bell (born December 16, 1994) is an American professional stock car racing driver and a Toyota Racing Development driver.
