Pyotr Valentinovich Marchenko (; born December 23, 1969, Moscow) is a Russian television journalist, radio and television presenter. He is the presenter of the weekday summary program ' REN TV since 2015, previously the program ' on NTV (1996-2002) and the Sunday edition of the program ''Vremya'' on Channel One from 2003-2005. Biography Marchenko was born on December 23, 1969 in Moscow to Valentin Petrovich (1932-1993), a journalist, documentary film editor and to Olga Efimovna (1934-2016), a research fellow. He studied at the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature of the Krupskaya Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute, but left the university of his own free will. He also studied for some time at the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. Naro-Fominsk Rail Crash
The Naro-Fominsk rail crash occurred on 20 May 2014 when a freight train derailed near Naro-Fominsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. The train was run into by a passenger train. Nine people were killed and 51 were injured. Crash At 12:32 Moscow Standard Time (08:32 UTC) on 20 May 2014, a freight train derailed between Bekasovo and Naro-Fominsk on the Moscow–Kyiv railway. The derailed wagons fouled an adjacent track. A Moscow–Chișinău passenger train collided with the derailed wagons, killing nine people and injuring 51; 29 of whom were taken to hospital. Kursk Submarine Disaster
The Russian nuclear submarine sank in an accident on 12 August 2000 in the Barents Sea, with the loss of all 118 personnel on board. The submarine, which was of the Project 949A-class (Oscar II class), was taking part in the first major Russian naval exercise in more than 10 years. The crews of nearby ships felt an initial explosion and a second, much larger explosion, but the Russian Navy did not realise that an accident had occurred and did not initiate a search for the vessel for over six hours. 1999 Russian Apartment Bombings
In September 1999, a series of explosions hit four apartment blocks in the Russian cities of Buynaksk, Moscow, and Volgodonsk, killing more than 300, injuring more than 1,000, and spreading a wave of fear across the country. The bombings, together with the War of Dagestan, Invasion of Dagestan, triggered the Second Chechen War. The handling of the crisis by Vladimir Putin, who was Prime Minister of Russia, prime minister at the time, boosted his popularity greatly and helped him attain the presidency within a few months. The blasts hit Buynaksk on 4 September and Moscow on 9 and 13 September. Another bombing happened in Volgodonsk on 16 September.
