UBA Pro Basketball League
The United Basketball Alliance (UBA) was the first men’s professional basketball league in India, comprising eight teams. The UBA was headquartered in Pune and had a city team, Pune Peshwas. The first UBA match was played on 17 July 2015 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad between Bengaluru Beast and Pune Peshwas. The match was won by Pune Peshwas as they pulled out an 88-81 win. This marked the first time a professional basketball league tipped off in India. The league played out between 2015 and 2017. However, the Basketball Federation of India did not invite UBA players for national and international tournaments. UBA was replaced by Elite Pro Basketball League in 2022. Deccan Gymkhana Ground
Deccan Gymkhana Ground is a ground located in the Deccan Gymkhana area of Pune, Maharashtra. The Deccan Gymkhana and its grounds were founded in October 1906. The chief founder was Mr. Balkrishna Narayan (Bandopant) Bhajekar. The ground has a pavilion and can accommodate 500 persons. It has basketball and volleyball courts and a cricket ground along with one gymnasium hall. It also has facilities for swimming, table tennis, billiards, cards and 11 tennis courts. It has one main clubhouse. This sports club has hosted Davis Cup matches. This was also the host of Maharashtra Premier League cricket matches. The Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, also known as Balewadi Stadium, is a sports complex located in Pune, India. The complex is situated about 15 km from downtown Pune and 5 km from Hinjawadi. Amritpal Singh (born January 5, 1991) is an Indian professional basketball player who represents Punjab of the National Basketball Championship. In the past, he played for the Sydney Kings of the Australian National Basketball League. Early life Amritpal Singh comes from a family of farmers. He began playing basketball in 2009, after playing kabaddi as a youth. In March 2010, he joined the Ludhiana Basketball Academy.
