Pearl is a fictional character from the ''X'' film series, played by Mia Goth. She is mentioned in the third film, ''MaXXXine'' (2024), and appears in flashback sequences. In ''X'', Goth was cast as both Pearl and the final girl, Maxine. Director Ti West explained that this was to display the similarities between the two characters and admitted that a dual role for them was intended from the beginning, as he looked at them as "different characters but the same person". Goth commented that she gained many interpretations of Pearl's character throughout production, and felt sympathetic towards Pearl in ''X''. The actress noted she preferred to think of her character as neither a villain nor a victim. Having enjoyed several discussions about the character, and believing she would be the "stand-out" of ''X'', Goth and West wrote a ... Dual roles (or a larger number of roles for an actor) may be deliberately written into a script, or may instead be a choice made during production, often due to a low budget. In film and television, dual roles are often used for comic effect, or to depict identical twins or relatives. In a theatrical production where more than one actor plays multiple characters, it is sometimes referred to as an "Ironman" cast. Theatre In theatre, the use of multiple roles may be budget-related, may be intended to give an accomplished actor more stage time or a greater challenge, or may be of thematic significance to the story. Affair
An affair is a relationship typically between two people, one or both of whom are either married or in a long-term Monogamy, monogamous or emotionally-exclusive relationship with someone else. The affair can be solely sexual, solely physical or solely emotional – or a combination of these. People who involve themselves in affairs typically do so out of the need for just sex, an intimate relationship, Passion (emotion), passionate attachment or a combination of these factors. Romantic relationships are considered to be contracts. They may be a formal one like marriage – consisting of both a verbal and written contract, or an informal one – consisting of only a verbal contract. Because most affairs are clandestine in nature, an affair breaks those (often implicit) contracts. Clandestine affairs commonly cause feelings of betrayal to the other person in the primary relationship. Ironically, affairs themselves are also contracted relationships and come with numerous stipulati ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Parental Abuse By Children
Child-to-parent violence (CPV), also recognized as abuse of parents by their children, constitutes a manifestation of domestic violence characterized by the infliction of maltreatment upon parents. The repercussions of enduring abuse from one's offspring can be substantial, exerting influence on the physical and mental well-being of parents, both in the immediate and prolonged periods. Multiple causes of abusive behavior Many people consider parental abuse to be the result of certain parenting practices, neglect, or the child suffering abuse themselves, but other adolescent abusers have had "normal" upbringings and have not suffered from such situations. Children may be subjected to violence on TV, in movies and in music, and that violence may come to be considered "normal". Zoosadism
Zoosadism is sexual pleasure derived from cruelty to animals. It is a paraphilia, where people are sexually aroused by torturing animals. Zoosadism is part of the Macdonald triad, a set of three behaviors that have been considered a precursor to psychopathic behavior. Research Some studies have suggested that individuals who are cruel to animals are more likely to be violent to humans. According to ''The New York Times'': Helen Gavin wrote however in ''Criminological and Forensic Psychology'' (2013): Alan R. Felthous reported in his paper "Aggression Against Cats, Dogs, and People" (1980): This is a commonly reported finding, and for this reason, cruelty to animals is often considered a warning sign of potential violence towards humans. Cases Serial killers such as Ted Bundy, Edmund Kemper, and Jeffrey Dahmer were known for torturing and killing animals in their youth. In September 2018, a whistleblower tweeted a link to a Telegram channel named "Zoosadist Evide ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Psychopathy
Psychopathy, or psychopathic personality, is a personality construct characterized by impaired empathy and remorse, along with bold, disinhibited, and egocentric traits. These traits are often masked by superficial charm and immunity to stress, which create an outward appearance of apparent normalcy. Hervey M. Cleckley, an American psychiatrist, influenced the initial diagnostic criteria for antisocial personality reaction/disturbance in the '' Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders'' (DSM), as did American psychologist George E. Partridge. The DSM and ''International Classification of Diseases'' (ICD) subsequently introduced the diagnoses of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) and dissocial personality disorder (DPD) respectively, stating that these diagnoses have been referred to (or include what is referred to) as psychopathy or sociopathy. The creation of ASPD and DPD was driven by the fact that many of the classic traits of psychopathy were ...
