Paradoxia
''Paradoxia'' is a genus of microscopic green algae, in the family Coccomyxaceae. It is found in freshwater habitats as phytoplankton worldwide, but species are rare. Description ''Paradoxia'' consists of individual cells or pairs of cells. Individual cells are club-shaped or fusiform in outline, 18–45 μm long and 3–8 μm wide. When paired, the two cells are joined at the base by spines or leaf-like appendages that twist together. These leaf-like appendages have many fine curved ridges on one face. The cell wall is smooth and covered with thin spines up to 24 μm long. Cells are uninucleate (i.e. with one nucleus) and one chloroplast containing a single pyrenoid. Reproduction occurs asexually via the formation of autospores or zoospores which form a coenobium while still in the mother cell wall. Resting spores have also been reported. Coccomyxaceae
Coccomyxaceae is a family of algae, in the class Trebouxiophyceae. Members of the family Coccomyxaceae are microscopic algae found often in colonies surrounded by mucilage. Sexual reproduction has not been observed in this family. Cells multiply by simple vegetative division, sometimes by forming autospores, but not zoospores. The genus ''Paradoxia'' produces zoospores; its placement in Coccomyxaceae is apparently due to a strain labeled as ''Paradoxia multiseta'' in the UTEX-Austin culture collection which was found to have a close phylogenetic relationship to ''Coccomyxa ''Coccomyxa'' is a genus of green algae in the family Coccomyxaceae. Trebouxiophyceae
The Trebouxiophyceae, also known as trebouxiophytes, are a class of green algae, in the division Chlorophyta. Members of this class are single-celled, colonial, or multicellular and are found in freshwater, terrestrial or marine habitats worldwide. Many taxa in the Trebouxiophyceae form symbiotic relationships with other organisms; in particular, the majority of phycobionts within lichens are trebouxiophytes. A number of taxa have also lost the ability to photosynthesize, and have evolved to become parasitic; examples include '' Prototheca'' and '' Helicosporidium''. Trebouxiophyceae was originally defined by ultrastructural characteristics, but is now generally circumscribed based on phylogenetics, particularly based on the 18S rDNA locus. ''Coccomyxa'' is a genus of green algae in the family Coccomyxaceae. This genus is defined by their small, elliptical to spherical shape, and the presence of a simple parietal chloroplast. These features, along with their occurrence in various lifestyles such as free-living, parasitic, or as , have been used to identify more than 40 species. Using additional morphological features, such as brown akinetes formation, allows for the differentiation between ''Coccomyxa'' and the genus ''Pseudococcomyxa'', as they tend to share some morphological characteristics like the general cell shape and one-sided mucilage cap. Characiaceae is a family of green algae in the order Sphaeropleales. It contains epiphytic or planktonic algae that are unicellular or colonial. The cells are heteropolar, with basal and apical ends having different shapes. The daughter cells are often retained in the cell wall of the old mother cell, whose cell wall becomes gelatinized. Bohuslav (, ; ) is a city on the Ros River in Obukhiv Raion, Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Bohuslav urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: 17,135 (2001).
