Onalenna Baloyi
Onalenna Oabona Baloyi (born May 6, 1984 in Mahalapye) is a Botswana middle distance runner, who specialized in the 800 metres. Career Baloyi's first major international event was at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics held in Helsinki, Finland, he ran in the 800 metres and he finished 7th in his heat from eight starters so he didn't advance to the next round. A year later he competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia, he again entered the 800 metres and this time he finished third in his heat which was fast enough to qualify for the final, in the final he ran 10 seconds slower than his heat and finished eighth. Baloyi represented Botswana at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's 800 metres. He ran in the second heat against six other athletes, including Sudan's Abubaker Kaki, who emerged himself as a heavy favorite and a possible top medal contender in this event. Mahalapye
Mahalapye is a town located in the Central District of Botswana. The town has about 41,000 inhabitants and is situated along the main road between the capital Gaborone and the second largest city Francistown. Mahalapye has a bus station, a railway station, a couple of hotels and a market area with many shops and fast food restaurants, Water Shed mall is the latest attraction to those travelling from Gaborone to Francistown, great place for refreshments. It also has several petrol stations, some open 24 hours per day. Being situated on the edge of the Kalahari desert it is quite dry, and the local waterways are dry except during the rainy season. Abubaker Kaki Khamis (; born 21 June 1989) is a Sudanese runner who specializes in the 800 metres. He is a two-time World Indoor Champion over the distance and also won gold at the 2007 All-Africa Games. He represented Sudan at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. He is a member of the Messiria ethnic minority. Running career In February 2008 he ran a world-leading 2:15.7 in the 1000 m indoors in Sweden. Botswana National Olympic Committee is the National Olympic Committee representing Botswana. It is also the body responsible for Botswana's representation at the Commonwealth Games. The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) has facilitated Botswana's participation at the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 and the country has never missed an edition since then.
