Oru Veedu Iru Vaasal
''Oru Veedu Iru Vaasal'' () is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language anthology drama film directed by K. Balachander, starring Yamini, Kumaresh and Ganesh. The film is a compilation of two stories; the first one was adapted from the novel ''Meendum Meendum'' by Anuradha Ramanan, and the second story was an original one written by Ananthu. Violin virtuoso-brothers Ganesh and Kumaresh made their acting debuts. The film had no songs. The film won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues at the 38th National Film Awards. Plot The film contains two distinct story lines, each story line revolving around Ganesh and Kumaresh. This film depicts difficulties women face(d) in a predominantly male dominated society. These women, when pushed to the edge, fight their ostracised husbands and set a tone and lead a meaningful life. Anuradha Ramanan
Anuradha Ramanan (29 June 1947 – 16 May 2010) was a Tamil people, Tamil writer, artist and a social activist. Biography Anuradha was born in 1947 in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Her grandfather R. Balasubramaniam was an actor who inspired Anuradha to become a writer. Anuradha started her career as an artist before making several unsuccessful attempts to get a job with popular magazines. This prompted her to join ''Mangai'', a Tamil magazine after the editor found her writings very interesting. Anuradha's literary career started in 1977 while working for the magazine. She also revealed the sexual harresment allegations about Jayendra Saraswathi. Apart from her literary contributions, she was well known for her "anti-divorce counselling" work. In a career that spanned over 30 years, Anuradha wrote nearly 800 novels and 1,230 short stories. Her works were mainly centered on family and everyday happenings. Tamil Nadu State Film Awards were given for excellence in Cinema of Tamil Nadu, Tamil cinema in India. They were given annually to honour the best talents and provide encouragement and incentive to the South Indian film industry by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
