Netterden
Netterden is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek, about 5 km northeast of Emmerich am Rhein in Germany. Netterden was a separate municipality until 1821, when it was merged with Bergh. The village has a border crossing to Emmerich am Rhein. The Netterdenscher Kanal is the border canal separating both countries. History It was first mentioned in 1218 as Netterthen. The etymology is unclear. The village of Nütterden is just across the border. In 1840, it was home to 350 people. Oude IJsselstreek
Oude IJsselstreek () is a municipality in the eastern Netherlands. It was established on 1 January 2005 through a merger of the former municipalities Gendringen and Wisch. Geography and population centres The municipality belongs to the transition area between the rivers in the south, coming from Germany (Rhine and Issel), and the sandy soils of the Eastern Netherlands. It has 15 population centres. Emmerich am Rhein ( Low Rhenish and nl, Emmerik) is a city and municipality in the northwest of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city has a harbour and a quay at the Rhine. In terms of local government organization, it is a medium-sized city belonging to the district of Kleve in the administrative region (''Regierungsbezirk'') of Düsseldorf.
