Nazzaro (company)
Automobili Nazzaro was an Italian manufacturer of automobiles from 1911 to 1916, and 1919–1923. Founded by racing driver Felice Nazzaro it produced circa 490 vehicles in total and won both the 1913 and 1920 Targa Florios in Sicily.''The Complete Encyclopedia of Motor Cars'', G.N. Fabbrica Automobili'', was founded in Turin on July 1, 1911, by racing driver Felice Nazzaro, his brother-in-law Pilade Masoero; Maurizio Fabry and Arnold Zoller( :de: Arnold Zoller) to produce automobiles with the brand name ''Nazzaro''. In 1916 the company was liquidated and bought by Franco Tosi Meccanica who founded a new company, ''Automobili Nazzaro'', in Florence after World War 1. Production ended in 1923. Guido Meregalli (1894 – 1959) was an Italian racecar driver, known from several GP victories between 1920 and 1926. He had victories in the 1920 Grand Prix season, winning the Targa Florio 1920 in a 4441 cm³ Nazzaro GP. Driving a Diatto alongside Alfieri Maserati, he won the Circuito del Garda race three years in a row, the 1922 Grand Prix season in a Tipo 20 (two-litre, four-cylinder), 1923 and 1924 in a Tipo 20S. At the VI Coppa Florio 1922, he was leading the Diatto GP305 when it crashed, killing his mechanic Giuseppe Giacchino. The 1914 French Grand Prix was a Grand Prix motor race held at Lyon on 4 July 1914. Coppa Florio
The Coppa Florio (or Florio Cup) was a motorsport race for automobiles first held in Italy in 1900. It was renamed in 1905 when Vincenzo Florio offered the initial 50,000 Lira prize money and a cup designed by Polak of Paris. The cup was to be awarded to the car maker who gained the most wins in the first seven races, beginning with the race held in 1905. In the event, the first seven races were all won by different manufacturers, but Peugeot won the eighth race in 1925 and thus secured the cup with its second win. However, the competition for the cup continued after Lucien Rosengart, then a director of Peugeot, offered to make it available again. The Brescia race ran along the route Brescia-Cremona-Mantua-Brescia.
