NYU Local
''NYU Local'' is an independent news blog run by New York University (NYU) students. It is the companion publication for NYU along with the ''Washington Square News'', and the undergraduate equivalent of '' Washington Square Review''. Founded in 2008 to cover discussion and NYU news, NYULocal.com receives, on average, 200,000 unique visitors each month. NYU Local publishes around 10 posts a day Monday through Friday. The blog is run by NYU undergraduates and is editorially independent from New York University. In 2008 NYU Local was profiled by PBS. MSNBC
MSNBC (originally the Microsoft National Broadcasting Company) is an American news-based pay television cable channel. It is owned by NBCUniversala subsidiary of Comcast. Headquartered in New York City, it provides news coverage and political commentary. As of September 2018, approximately 87 million households in the United States (90.7 percent of pay television subscribers) were receiving MSNBC. In 2019, MSNBC ranked second among basic cable networks averaging 1.8 million viewers, behind rival Fox News, averaging 2.5 million viewers. MSNBC and its website were founded in 1996 under a partnership between Microsoft and General Electric's NBC unit, hence the network's naming. Palestinian Refugees
Palestinian refugees are citizens of Mandatory Palestine, and their descendants, who fled or were expelled from their country over the course of the 1947–49 Palestine war (1948 Palestinian exodus) and the Six-Day War (1967 Palestinian exodus). Most Palestinian refugees live in or near 68 Palestinian refugee camps across Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. In 2019 more than 5.6 million Palestinian refugees were registered with the United Nations. In 1949, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) defined Palestinian refugees to refer to the original "Palestine refugees" as well as their patrilineal descendants. ''Gawker'' is an American blog founded by Nick Denton and Elizabeth Spiers and based in New York City focusing on celebrities and the media industry. According to SimilarWeb, the site had over 23 million visits per month as of 2015. Founded in 2003, ''Gawker'' was the flagship blog for Denton's Gawker Media. Gawker Media also managed other blogs such as '' Jezebel'', '' io9'', '' Deadspin'' and '' Kotaku''. ''Gawker'' came under scrutiny for posting videos, communications and other content that violated copyrights or the privacy of its owners, or was illegally obtained. It was a project of the Center for American Progress Action Fund (CAP Action), a progressive public policy research and advocacy organization.
