Mircea Hava (born 26 December 1956 in Oradea, Bihor County, Romania) is a Romanian politician, engineer, and member of the European Parliament. Hava was elected as member of the European Parliament on the list of the National Liberal Party (PNL) at the 2019 European Parliament election in Romania. Hava was also mayor of Alba Iulia for 25 years, firstly between 1991 and 1992 and then once more from 1996 to 2019. Bihor County () is a county (județ) in western Romania. With a total area of , Bihor is Romania's 6th largest county geographically and the main county in the historical region of Crișana. Its capital city is Oradea. Toponymy The origin of the name Bihor is uncertain, except that it likely takes its name from an ancient fortress in the current commune of Biharia. It possibly came from ''vihor'', the Serbian and Ukrainian word for "whirlwind" (вихор), or Slavic ''biela hora'', meaning "white mountain". The National Liberal Party ( ro, Partidul Național Liberal, PNL) is a liberal-conservative political party in Romania (and the second largest overall political party in the country as of 2022). Re-founded in mid January 1990, shortly after the Revolution of 1989 which culminated in the fall of communism in Romania, it claims the legacy of the major political party of the same name, active between 1875 and 1947 in the Kingdom of Romania.
