Michael Shafir
Michael Shafir (4 January 1944 – 9 November 2022) was a Romanian–Israeli political scientist. He has been described as "one of the leading analysts of antisemitism and the treatment of the Holocaust in east-central Europe". Shafir was born in Bucharest, Romania. He immigrated to Israel during the Communist period in Eastern Europe, later returning to Romania in 2005. Antisemitism (also spelled anti-semitism or anti-Semitism) is hostility to, prejudice towards, or discrimination against Jews. A person who holds such positions is called an antisemite. Antisemitism is considered to be a form of racism. The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah, was the genocide of European Jews during World War II.
