Meximieux
Meximieux () is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France. Geography Located 35 km north east of Lyon and 10 km from Ambérieu-en-Bugey, the town is where the Dombes plateau meets the plain of the river Ain. Historically, Meximieux was part of the former province of Bresse. Over the centuries, its importance has developed from its location on the main route between Lyon and Geneva, and it now lies on the Autoroute 42 from Lyon. Meximieux—Pérouges station has rail connections to Lyon, Ambérieu-en-Bugey and Chambéry. Meximieux—Pérouges station (French: ''Gare de Meximieux—Pérouges'') is a railway station located in the commune of Meximieux, Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. As its name suggests the station is located within proximity of, and serves the nearby medieval era commune of Pérouges. It is located at kilometric point (KP) 38.393 on the Lyon–Geneva railway, between the stations of La Valbonne and Ambérieu-en-Bugey. As of 2020, the station is owned and operated by the SNCF and served by TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes trains. Médaille De La Résistance
The Resistance Medal (french: Médaille de la Résistance) was a decoration bestowed by the French Committee of National Liberation, based in the United Kingdom, during World War II. It was established by a decree of General Charles de Gaulle on 9 February 1943 "to recognize the remarkable acts of faith and of courage that, in France, in the empire and abroad, have contributed to the resistance of the French people against the enemy and against its accomplices since 18 June 1940". The Resistance medal was awarded to approximately 38,288 living persons and 24,463 posthumously. These awards were both for membership in the Free French forces and for participation in the metropolitan clandestine Resistance during the German occupation of France in World War II. Higher deeds were rewarded with the ''Ordre de la Libération''. Proposals for the medal ceased to be accepted on 31 March 1947. Claude Favre De Vaugelas
Claude Favre de Vaugelas (6 January 1585 – 26 February 1650) was a Savoyard grammarian and man of letters. Although a lifelong courtier, Claude Favre was widely known by the name of one of the landed estates he owned as ''seigneur'' of Vaugelas and baron of Peroges. Born at Meximieux, in the Duchy of Savoy, he became gentleman-in-waiting to Gaston, Duke of Orléans, and continued faithful to this prince in his disgrace, although his fidelity cost him a pension from the crown on which he was largely dependent. His father was the distinguished president Favre and his mother bore the same name as her husband (Favre). She got the Vaugelas's estate, by birth. His thorough knowledge of the French language and the correctness of his speech won him a place among the original members of the Académie française in 1634.
