Mats Berglind (195223 September 2016) was a Swedish politician and member of the Riksdag, the national legislature. A member of the Social Democratic Party, he represented Uppsala County between October 1998 and October 2010. Uppsala County () is one of the 29 multi-member constituency, constituencies of the Riksdag, the national legislature of Sweden. The constituency was established in 1970 when the Riksdag changed from a bicameral legislature to a unicameral legislature. It is conterminous with the Counties of Sweden, county of Uppsala County, Uppsala. The Swedish Social Democratic Party, formally the Swedish Social Democratic Workers' Party ( , S or SAP), usually referred to as The Social Democrats ( ), is a social democratic political party in Sweden. The party is member of the Progressive Alliance and the Party of European Socialists. Founded in 1889, the SAP is the country's oldest and currently largest party. Substitute (elections)
A substitute is a political candidate who is not directly elected, but who succeeds a politician holding an elected office after that person ceases to hold the office due to, for example, resignation or death. This system can be used to fill casual vacancies instead of holding by-elections or special elections to fill the vacant office. Thomas Östros (born 26 January 1965) is a Swedish economist and Social Democratic politician who has been serving as vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) since 2020. Earlier in his career, he held positions as CEO of the Swedish Bankers' Association and Executive Director for Northern Europe at the International Monetary Fund. Early life and education Östros was born in Malmberget, as Björn Thomas Waaranperä, the son of an explosives worker and a housewife. His parents changed their Tornedalian family name to ''Östros'' when they moved from Norrland to Västerås, because it was easier to pronounce.
