Maria Conway
Maria Conway (born 19 May 1984 in Oxford, England), is a former British Women's International motorcycle trials rider. Conway was British Women's Trials Champion in 2002 and a member of the winning British Women's TDN team in 2006 and 2007. Biography Conway competed in the inaugural Women's World Trials Championship in 2000 placing 9th in the series. In 2001 Conway again competed in the World Championships, narrowly missing out on the podium finishing in 4th place, the top placed British rider in the event. 2002 was to be Conway's year, taking the first ever British Women's Trials Championship ahead of Donna Fox and placing 5th in the World Championships that year held in Portugal. The best finish in the World Championships for Conway was to come the following year in 2003 when she ended the season in 3rd place behind Laia Sanz and Iris Kramer at the event in San Marino. Motorcycle Trial
Motorcycle trials, also known as observed trials, often called simply trial/s (with or without the plural "s"), is a non-speed event on specialized motorcycles. The sport is most popular in the United Kingdom and Spain, though there are participants around the globe. Modern trials motorcycles are distinctive in that they have evolved to become extremely lightweight, lack seating (they are designed to be ridden standing up) and have suspension travel that is short, relative to a motocross or enduro motorcycle. Motorcycle trials is often utilized by competitors in other motorcycle sports (such as enduro, motocross or road racers) as a way to cross-train, as trials requires fine throttle, balance, and machine control. FIM Trial World Championship
The FIM Trial World Championship and FIM X-Trial World Championship are the most prestigious motorcycle trials tournaments of the world, organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. The outdoor championship is held since 1964 and the indoor (X-Trial) since 1993. From 1964 to 1967 the championship was named Challenge Henry Groutards. From 1968 to 1974, it was the Trial European Championship, and from 1975 onwards it has been known as the World Championship. Up until 2010, the outdoor world trial championship has been won by 6 different pilots from the UK, 5 from Spain, 2 from Finland and France, and 1 from Belgium, Germany, United States, Japan and Sweden. Donna Fox
Donna Fox (born 22 October 1984), is a British Women's International motorcycle trials rider. Fox was a member of the winning British Women's TDN team in 2006-2007 and 2015. Biography Fox finished runner up to Maria Conway in the inaugural British Women's Trials Championship in 2002, losing out by a mere 5 points. That year she made her international debut competing in both the FIM Women's World Trials Championship and as a member of the British team at the annual FIM Trial Des Nations, held in Portugal. She placed 6th in the World Championships. In 2005 Fox was again runner up in the British Championship, this time to TDN teammate Rebekah Cook. Laia Sanz
Laia Sanz Pla-Giribert (born 11 December 1985), also known as Laia Sanz, is a Spanish sportswoman. She is a fourteen-time Women's Trial World Champion and ten-time Women's Trial European Champion in outdoor motorcycle trials. She has also a member of the Spanish Female Team in the Trial des Nations, helping the team win the event five times (2000, 2002, 2008, 2010, 2011). In 2010, she competed in the Women's Enduro World Championship for the first time. Iris Kramer
Iris Kramer (born 22 June 1981) is a German International motorcycle trials rider. Kramer is notable for winning six German Women's Trials Championships, three Women's FIM Trial European Championships and the 2007 Women's FIM Trial World Championship. In 2011, Kramer was named an FIM Legend for her motorcycling achievements. Biography Born in Darmstadt, Germany, Kramer first competed in the German Women's Trials Championship in 2002, winning the title that year and successfully defending in for the next six years. She competed in the FIM European Championships in 1999, becoming the first Women's European Champion after finishing ahead of Norwegian rider Linda Meyer. FIM Trial European Championship
The FIM Trials European Championship is organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and has been held since 1992. The championship gives up and coming riders a chance to compete at international level against top class riders, many who have progressed to become champions in the FIM Trial World Championship such as current champion Toni Bou and past champions Dougie Lampkin and Adam Raga History The Inaugural championship was held in 1992 with a single class format. In 1999 a women's class was added in part due to the addition of a women's class In the FIM Trial World Championship series the previous year. In 2004 a European Junior class was added, with many riders starting in the junior class before progressing through to the Pro class main series. Christy Williams
Christy Williams (born 14 August 1980), is an international women's motorcycle trials rider. Williams is a four time Canadian Women's Trials Champion and ten time American NATC Women's Trials Champion. Biography Williams was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. In 1999 Williams headed over the border into the United States to compete in the NATC Women's Trials Championship . She won the 1999 series ahead of American rider Pam DeBruin then returned to defend her title in 2000 and 2001, both years winning ahead of her sister Kerry Williams. They repeated their one-two combination again in 2003 and 2004, then Christy won in 2005 ahead of Louise Forsley. Williams returned to take three more titles in 2008 until 2010. Rebekah Cook Talbot (born 3 August 1986) is an English woman's international motorcycle trials rider. Rebekah is nine times British Women's Trials Champion, winning in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2012, she was also European Women's Trials Champion. Biography Cook has been competing in the British Women's Trials Championship class since 2004 and won the championship in her first year. This started a six-year run of championship wins until she finished runner-up to Gas Gas rider Joanne Coles in 2010. In 2011 Cook was back to her winning ways, repeating in 2012 and 2013 until she was beaten in 2014 by current Women's World Champion Emma Bristow. Montesa Honda
Montesa Honda is a subsidiary business of Honda, which assembles several models of motorcycles and bicycles in Barcelona, Spain. It was formed in 1944 by Pere Permanyer and Francesc Xavier "Paco" Bultó. The business was Spanish-owned until entering into an association with Honda. Permanyer and Bultó Their first Montesa prototype was based upon the French Motobécane models of that time. Permanyer began to produce his own gas engines, which allowed for a new area in motorcycles to be explored and expanded into. Permanyer and Bultó teamed up in Barcelona and created a light-weight motorcycle. This led to the creation of a bike powered by a 95cc two-stroke engine with no sprung rear suspension.
