Manarat International University
Manarat International University (MIU) is a private university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 2001 by the Manarat Trust. History Manarat International University was established on 21 May 2001 by the Manarat Trust which owns Manarat Dhaka International School and College. In August 2016, Rapid Action Battalion arrested three students of the university who were members of the female unit of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh. Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime arrested a student of the university for being a member and recruiter of a banned religious extremist group, Ansar Al Islam, in November 2021. In September 2022, the Government of Bangladesh dismantled the existing trustee board alleging it had links with Islamist militants and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Atiqul Islam ( bn, আতিকুল ইসলাম; born 1 July 1961) is a Bangladeshi politician, businessman and the current mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation. He was elected in the position in the by-election held on 28 February 2019 and took oath on 7 March. Earlier, he served as the president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) during 2013–14. Early life Islam was born on 1 July 1961 at Saidpur of Nilphamari district to Momtajuddin Ahmed and Majeda Khatun. Hedayetullah Al Mamoon is a retired Senior Secretary at the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh and the chairperson of Janata Bank. Career Mamun joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1982. Sadeka Halim
Sadeka Halim is a professor of University of Dhaka and the first female dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University. She is the first woman to be the Chief Information Commissioner of Bangladesh. Early life and education Halim's father, Fazlul Halim Chowdhury, was a vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka.
