The Laban ng Makabayang Masang Pilipino () was the umbrella political coalition party of the opposition during the May 11, 1998 Philippine general election that led to the presidency of then-Vice President Joseph E. Estrada. It was the largest political party during that time, uniting the major Philippine political parties which included Senator Edgardo J. Angara's Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino, business tycoon Eduardo M. Cojuangco Jr.'s Nationalist People's Coalition and Vice President Joseph E. Estrada's Partido ng Masang Pilipino, along with minor and regional parties. Estrada's running mate, Senator Edgardo Angara lost to fellow Senator Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of Lakas—NUCD—UMDP. Maria Gloria Macaraeg Macapagal Arroyo (, born April 5, 1947), often referred to by her initials GMA, is a Filipino academic and politician serving as one of the House Deputy Speakers since 2022, and previously from 2016 to 2017. Edcel Castelar Lagman Sr. (, born May 1, 1942) is a Filipino human rights lawyer and politician from the province of Albay. He was elected as a member of the House in 1987 up to the present. He served as Minority Floor Leader of the House of Representatives of the Philippines until 2012, when he resigned the office. Rodolfo Gaspar Biazon (, born April 14, 1935) is a Filipino politician and former Philippine Marine Corps general. Navotas, officially the City of Navotas ( fil, Lungsod ng Navotas), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines.
