Lopinga Deidamia
''Lopinga deidamia'' is a species of butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It is found from the Urals to southern Siberia, China, Mongolia, Korea and Japan. Description The wingspan is 45–55 mm. Seitz describes it thus-''P. deidamia'' Ev. (''menetriesi'' Brem.) (45 f). The male above somewhat similar to the ''menara'' male, the female with white spots proximally to as well as below the apical ocellus: both sexes recognizable by the underside, which is dark blackish brown and without the dentate hues found in the ''megera''- ''maera'' -groups of forms. Very widely distributed, from the Ural throughout Asia, Siberia, Tibet. ''Lopinga achine'', the woodland brown, is a Palearctic butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. Description in Seitz P. ''achine'' Scop. (= ''dejanira'' L.) (45 g). Underside proximally to the ocelli with a white distal band which is variable and may be so much reduced that the row of ocelli is placed within the ground-colour. Deviations in the band occur especially often in alpine specimens, though singly also in other places, ab. ''mendelensis'' Lowe being based on such variation. Satyrini
The Satyrini is one of the tribes of the subfamily Satyrinae. It includes about 2200 species and is therefore the largest tribe in the subfamily which comprises 2500 species. Distribution Satyrini butterflies have a worldwide distribution, but the distribution pattern differs between subtribes. Some subtribes are almost restricted to a single biogeographic region, such as the Pronophilina, which is found only in Andean cloud forests from Venezuela to Bolivia. Biology The larval food plants of many species in this tribe are grasses, i.e. Poaceae. It is considered that the Satyrini diversified at about the same time as the grasses did, and that the radiation of the tribe is therefore closely related to the evolution of the grasses. In contrast, the tribe has a few genera which show uncommon feeding preferences.
