Kota Stone
{{unreferenced, date=August 2010 Kota Stone is a fine-grained variety oKota limestone quarried at Kota district, Rajasthan, India. Hundreds of mines are located in or near the town of Ramganj Mandi and in the Kota district. The greenish-blue and brown colours of this stone contribute to its popularity. Other colors are black, pink, grey, and beige. When used for building, the stone is mainly used for exteriors, but will also work when used for interiors. Limitations Kota stone flakes, however, periodic polishing using polishing wax can eliminate this phenomenon. Since it is limestone, it is not resistant to acid and alkali. The stone is used throughout India, especially in government offices & institutions. It is a naturally available, fine-grained variety of limestone originating from Ramganj Mandi, Kota, Rajasthan. Kota District
Kota District is a district of the state of Rajasthan in western India. The city of Kota is the administrative headquarters of the district. During the period around 12th century AD, Rao Deva, a Hada Chieftain conquered the territory and founded Bundi and Hadoti. In the early 17th century AD, during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, the ruler of Bundi, Rao Ratan Singh, gave the smaller principality of Kota to his son, Madho Singh. Since then Kota became a hallmark of the Rajput gallantry and culture. In Pre-Independence days social activist Guru Radha Kishan worked here along with other prominent freedom fighters and organised people against the government's policies. He left Kota after the local administration learned of the arrest warrant issued against him for his activities for freedom movement. Ramganj Mandi
Ramganj Mandi is a city and a municipality in Kota district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is known as stone city, coriander city. It has the largest grain market of coriander with around 6500 tons of coriander seeds arriving on a single day during season. Spices Giant MDH buys its coriander seeds from Ramganj Mandi. A new spice park is being constructed on Nimana road, the link road between SH 9B and NH 12. Annually billions of square feet of limestone is exported throughout the country, mainly in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
