KVZK-2
KVZK-TV is the public government-owned broadcaster of the U.S. territory of American Samoa, based in Pago Pago. A subsidiary of the Office of Public Information, currently directed by Tialuga Vince Iuli, it was established in 1964. KVZK-TV broadcasts from the National Register-listed Michael J. Kirwan Educational Television Center in Utulei and maintains a tower on Mount Alava. The operations of KVZK-TV are not licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), though other stations on the island are; however, KVZK-TV complies with FCC rules and regulations. The station also receives grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; in 2017–18, the Office of Public Information had a budget of $1.9 million, with $638,000 coming from a CPB grant. Very High Frequency
Very high frequency (VHF) is the ITU designation for the range of radio frequency electromagnetic waves ( radio waves) from 30 to 300 megahertz (MHz), with corresponding wavelengths of ten meters to one meter. Frequencies immediately below VHF are denoted high frequency (HF), and the next higher frequencies are known as ultra high frequency (UHF). VHF radio waves propagate mainly by line-of-sight, so they are blocked by hills and mountains, although due to refraction they can travel somewhat beyond the visual horizon out to about 160 km (100 miles). 2019 Pacific Games
The 2019 Pacific Games was the sixteenth edition of the Pacific Games. The Games were held in Apia, Samoa, returning there for the first time since 2007. It was the third time overall that the Pacific Games were held in Samoa. The event was initially awarded to Nukuʻalofa, Tonga, but the Tongan government officially withdrew from hosting it in May 2017, amid concerns the country could face economic difficulties if it proceeded. These Games included an additional discipline for basketball, which is the 3x3 format, as well as the return of archery and badminton which were not on the 2015 Pacific Games program. KBAD-LD (channel 30) is a low-power television station in Pago Pago, American Samoa, serving the U.S. territory. It is owned by South Seas Broadcasting alongside WVUV-FM, KKBT-FM and KKHJ-FM. KBAD-LD's transmitter is located between A'oloau and Mapusaga. The station is presently silent. History The station was founded on November 4, 2003, as TBN repeater K30HO. KUAM-TV (channel 8) is a television station in Hagåtña (Agana), Guam, serving the U.S. territory as an affiliate of NBC and CBS. Owned by Pacific Telestations, LLC, it is sister to the local public access cable channel Local 2. KUAM-TV's studios are located at 600 Harmon Loop in Dededo, and its transmitter is located east-northeast of Agat. Owen Stuart Aspinall (September 21, 1927 – February 7, 1997) was an American attorney and politician who served as the 45th Governor of American Samoa from August 1, 1967, to July 31, 1969. He was born in Grand Junction, Colorado; his father was longtime United States Representative Wayne N. Aspinall. After serving in the United States Army during World War II, Aspinall earned his Bachelor of Laws from American University.
