ABA League
The ABA League, renamed to the ABA League First Division in 2017, is the 1st-tier regional men's professional basketball league that originally featured clubs from the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia). Due to sponsorship reasons, the league was also known as the Goodyear League from 2001 to 2006, the NLB League from 2006 to 2011, and as the AdmiralBet ABA League from 2021. The league coexists alongside scaled-down national leagues in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. All but one of Adriatic League clubs join their country's own competitions in late spring after the Adriatic League regular season and post-season have been completed. Kraš () is a Croatian food company based in Zagreb, specializing in confectionery products. In 2012, Kraš was, after Podravka, the second largest Croatian exporter of food. History The company traces its origins from two factories from the early 20th century — "Union", founded in 1911, by Yugoslavian Jews, including Slavaljub Deutsch, the oldest surviving chocolate manufacturer in southeastern Europe — and "Bizjak", founded in 1923, which manufactured toast, cookies and wafers. Deutsch was subsequently murdered in Auschwitz and his property seized. These two companies, as well as a number of smaller confectionery manufacturers from Zagreb, merged in 1950 and took the name Kraš, in honor of Josip Kraš, a union leader and prominent Croatian communist who was killed in World War II. Slavko Šajber (25 February 1929 – 3 November 2003) was a Croatian politician, football official and former president of the Football Association of Yugoslavia. Early life Šajber was born in Gradina, near Virovitica, to a Jewish family, german: Scheiber. His family suffered terrible devastation during the Holocaust, 37 of its 42 members have been killed by Ustaše. Nikola Plećaš (born January 10, 1948) is a former Yugoslavian professional basketball player. At a height of 1.88 m (6'2") tall, and a weight of 86 kg (190 lbs.), he played at the point guard and shooting guard positions. He was considered to be one of the greatest European basketball players of the 1960s and 1970s. During his playing career, he was nicknamed Sveti Nikola. Plećaš is an ethnic Serb. Košarkarski klub Olimpija ( en, Olimpija Basketball Club) was a men's professional basketball club based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Olimpija has won 23 National League championships, including eight consecutive titles between 1992 and 1999. Mirko Novosel
Mirko Novosel (born 30 June 1938) is a Croatian former professional basketball coach and player. Novosel coached some of the greatest players in former Yugoslavia and Croatia, such as Croatian Hall of Fame players Krešimir Ćosić and Dražen Petrović. He was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, as a coach, on 7 September 2007. He was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame, as a coach, in 2010. Playing career Novosel played club basketball, from 1952 to 1966, with Lokomotiva Zagreb.
