Kismet (band)
Kismet were an Australian darkwave band, formed in 1993 by Macedonian immigrant and ex- Mizar guitarist Gorazd Chapovski after that band's breakup in 1991 and his relocation to Australia shortly after. History Kismet were formed in 1993 by Chapovski. His Mizar bandmate Ilija Stojanovski joined him on bass. The band's first three recordings were "The Fog" (an English-language remake of the Mizar song "Magla"), "Heaven in Asia" and "Sister Tonight", all featuring Australian vocalist Kerry Smith. The latter two songs were released at the end of 1993 on the ''Fresh Tracks Series 14'' compilation in Australia, while "The Fog" remained unreleased until a 2003 reissue of Mizar's album '' Svjat Dreams 1762-1991'', where it was incorrectly listed as the "last Mizar song". Dark Folk
Neofolk, also known as apocalyptic folk, is a form of experimental music blending elements of folk and industrial music, which emerged in punk rock circles in the 1980s. Neofolk may either be solely acoustic or combine acoustic folk instrumentation with various other sounds. History Neofolk has its origins in 1960s musical groups who began taking influence from traditional folk music. Folk musicians such as Vulcan's Hammer, Changes, Leonard Cohen, and Comus could be considered harbingers of the sound that later influenced the neofolk artists. Also the later explorations of Velvet Underground's band members, specifically those of Nico, have been called a major influence on what later became neofolk. Mizar (band)
Mizar ( ) is a Macedonian rock band from Skopje. They achieved a status of a cult band, especially in Macedonia and across the former Yugoslavian countries. The group is notable for its first self-titled album, as it was the first popular music album in the former Yugoslavian countries in Macedonian. The album was a major success and it is listed among the top ten rock albums ever released in former Yugoslavian countries. Mizar was formed in 1981 in the then Socialist Republic of Macedonia. Because of the band's avant-garde sound and image, its Christian leanings and support for Macedonian self-determination, they were viewed with certain degree of suspicion by the former authorities.
